What is Chattering Bone in Destiny 2?

Chattering Bone is a legendary kinetic pulse-rifle. Somewhat expectedly, it deals kinetic damage. It also uses primary ammo (white). Players got a chance to lay their hands on this gun during Season 21 (of the Depth) which was a part of the Lightfall expansion. Despite that, it was added to a way older raid's loot table (Last Wish).

What makes it a great choice?

First of all, its stats are really good: aim assistance at 71, handling at 70, reload speed at 63, and so on. It might not have exceptional figures in this regard but they are still quite good and balanced. Second, perks make lots of difference too. The curated set of perks is as follows: Corkscrew Rifling, Light Mag, Kill Clip, and High-Impact Reserves. None of them is unique to this rifle (it's not an exotic after all!) but they are still good and work well as a set. Corkscrew Rifling, for example, improves your Stability, Handling, and Range (+5 to each). Light Mag adds reload speed (+10) and range (+5). Kill Clip gives you a 5-sec damage bonus (+25%) if you reload within 3.8 seconds after landing a killing blow. And High-Impact Reserves make your last bullets in a magazine deal more damage. It works like this: you've reached half of your mag. From now on every consequent shot will deal more damage: the bonus starts from 12% and goes to 25% with the very last bullet. In PvP the bonus is less powerful: from 3% to 6%. 

There are 2 more intrinsic perks that will be present on the weapon with any roll: Lightweight Frame and Explosive Pact. The former defines the high figure in handling for the weapon and makes you move faster when you have it equipped. The latter gives you bonuses in stability and reload speed whenever you use grenades (of any kind).

Note that that was a curated roll and you will not necessarily get exactly it when you finally obtain this weapon. You might not even ever see it in the game actually. That's not a reason for despair! Arrowhead Break instead of Corkscrew Rifling is also a great thing: it greatly increases recoil and handling – a superb perk that might not be the most preferred choice but is still very popular among the community! High-Impact Reserves has a solid rival in the face of the Kinetic Tremors perk. With it you can summon 3 shockwaves to attack your target and everything nearby – you only gotta deal kinetic damage to that target for some time.

How do you obtain it?

The only source of this weapon is the Last Wish raid. Fortunately, it's not tied to just one boss and you have a chance to get it from any of the encounters there. It won't be easy though: however ancient, the raid itself still poses a challenge to guardians and the drop rate of the weapon is small.
