What kind of weapon is Wicked Implement exotic in Destiny 2?

Wicked Implement is an exotic kinetic scout rifle that uses primary (white) ammo and deals stasis damage. It first appeared in the game in Season 21 (AKA Season of the Deep). It's gone through several updates and eventually found its niche and the community is happy with it. It's not the best scout rifle in the game or anything like that but you'll certainly enjoy using it in Lost Sectors and in the open world as well as in some instances activities like raids or crucible (but it's not a best-in-slot for them for sure). Anyway, let's take a look at the curated roll that this weapon has:

• Creeping attrition (exotic)
• Corkscrew rifling
• Accurized rounds
• Tithing harvest (exotic)
• Fitted stock

Mind you that you don't always get a curated roll! Actually getting it is very rare and it might even actually not be the most desirable roll at all. But let's take a closer look at what that recommendation above basically is:

So as you can see some compromises are to be expected (Corkscrew rifling's Handling bonus is canceled by Fitted stock, for instance) but in general these perks give you a great power up and make this scout rifle excel at being very versatile.

How do I unlock it?

Surprisingly, your story of getting hold of Wicked Implement starts with fishing. You'll have to spend some time with a rod to catch as many as 3 exotic fish. Those poor swimmers are (location is given in the parentheses):

1. Whispering Mothcarp (Savanthun's throne world)
2. Vexing Placoderm (Nessus)
3. Aeonian Alpha-Betta (EDZ)

Then you gotta deposit them at the HELM to obtain 3 broken blades in return. And those fractured swords are:

1. Blade of Strife
2. Blade of Ambition
3. Blade of Cunning

Those are not the most awesome names for legendary weaponry but well, whatever. After you've got them all, deposit them at the 3 Hive statues in Deep Dive. There'll be another, the fourth statue in Deep Dive that you can interact with. Activate it and thus start an Exotic mission. But of course, the Exotic mission won't be a piece of cake. It could be if it hadn't been for the timer. Yes, you'll have no time to waste as you'll have to beat it. You can – and should – go to that mission in a company to raise your chances. Only one person in the fireteam should have the prerequisites met (with all those fishes and blades). The best company for you is our pro team.
