What's Navigator Catalyst in Destiny 2?

The Navigator's catalyst is an item that unlocks additional unique perks for this weapon. It works similarly to most other catalysts in the game so it shouldn't be anything new to veteran players. The obtainment of it, however, is unlike most others, so make sure to read on as we'll tell you a bit more about it later. What does Navigator catalyst do?

The catalyst's masterwork grants you another unique perk called "Gordian Knot". To activate it, you gotta do a special reload (which is basically just holding down R for a while), then shoot. Your first shoot will create a Grapple Tangle at the point of impact. You can interact with it to move around the current location faster. It's a great utility ability and it will make you a much more versatile guardian in all the game modes. Most experts say that it's perfect for Strand subclass in particular and we'd agree with that.

How to obtain this catalyst?

Obtaining The Navigator's catalyst involves getting back to the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon and completing a couple of puzzles there, all of which include getting some statue or other. It starts after completing the first encounter in the dungeon. If you have a fireteam member wielding the Navigator, you'll have the catalyst quest activated. So go back to the spawning point of the dungeon and find an entrance to an underground area. In it you'll find a pile of dead ghosts that you can interact with to activate a timer and get a special item that you have to turn in before the time expires. Head to the statue nearby (you have to exit the underground area first) and turn in the item – you'll have a mini-boss spawned next to your current location. The name of the boss is Thul-Ar and he's got some fancy shield around it that you can't destroy completely right away. Damage it as hard as you can and then 3 additional mobs (wizards) will spawn. You gotta defeat the one that has the Hive symbol above it. That will let you continue damaging the mini boss and eventually, you'll be able to down it.

Carry on and right before the second encounter, in the underwater caves, you'll have a chance to complete the second step of the puzzle. Go past the statue to find another pile of dead ghosts. Then do exactly the same: interact with it, pick up an item, travel back to the statue, turn in the item, and fight the mini-boss Thul-Ar once more. The boss has the same very tactics so it won't be too hard. Finally, the third step can be completed right before the entrance to the final-boss area. To the right of the entrance, you'll see another pile of dead ghosts that you gotta interact with and activate the timer. Go to the statue nearby – this time you'll have to fight through a bunch of enemies to it so get your guns ready. Turn in the item and for the last time fight the nasty Thul-Ar and his stupid wizards. After you've successfully finished them, a chest will spawn with the catalyst inside it. This catalyst can be picked up and used by the Navigator wielder only so if it's you, go ahead and claim what's rightfully yours!
