What are catalyst boosts in Destiny 2?
Catalyst boosts in Destiny 2 are your shortcuts to obtaining most powerful upgrades for the best weapons in the game. It doesn't matter which exotic you're planning to unlock a catalyst for – we can help you with any, fast and effectively. Regardless of what intricate scheme of obtainment the catalyst you're considering has, our professional players will complete the task in no time without any unnecessary hassle. You'll understand how great it is to delegate such a tiresome task to a skilled pro who knows their job so well. There'll be no way you won't love it!
What are actually Destiny 2 catalysts?
Destiny 2 catalysts are items that make your exotic weapon even more powerful than it is. Exotics are actually quite exceptional without any additional power-ups but why not raise the bar of what your gun is capable of? Granted, catalysts are hit and miss: some are great, some are mediocre, some are not even worth spending time on. There are hundreds of tier lists on them. In this section we've collected the products that help you get access to catalysts that are widely considered a success and that you should absolutely get if you're lucky to have a gun that they are attached to.
How do you unlock D2 catalysts?
There's a great number of sources that catalysts can come from. Below we've listed some of them:
- Quests
- Strikes
- Crucible
- Gambit
- Dungeons
- Playlist activities
- Raids
- Reputation
- Relics
- Nightfall ordeals
And so on. As you can see, there's hardly an activity in this game that doesn't have a way to provide you with a catalyst or two. It doesn't mean that it's going to be easy to obtain them. Oh no, quite on the contrary. Knowing the source of a catalyst is miles away from actually obtaining it. The quests involved in this kinds of obtainment are usually among the lengthiest ones, the raids and dungeons are tough and have extra requirements in the shape of puzzles, and this extra difficulty should be expected from every activity that has a catalyst to give you. Well, giving is not the most precise word here – no one gives it to you, you'll have to come and take it.
And if that wasn't time-consuming enough, you can't unlock catalyst bonuses (which include either a stat increase or an extra perk) until you've "leveled up" the catalyst that you've just obtained. Most of the times to level it up, you need to secure a particular number of frags with the weapon that the catalyst is related to. The number of such frags varies: it can be 300, 500, 700, or more. It's surely a good thing if you just gotta make kills with the weapon but it's not always the case as some catalysts demand landing particular kills: precision kills, PvP kills, multikills, and so on. Requirements can become quite exotic for some guns: that of the Rat King sidearm demands you to complete as many as 1000 kills and all the members of your fireteam gotta wield Rat King as well. That's just crazy. But the catalyst is good so players just shrug their shoulders and do this insane grind to become stronger.
What catalysts are there?
There are lots and lots of catalysts in Destiny 2. As of August 2023, there are 82 obtainable catalysts. Here are 5 of them that we recommend obtaining:
WEAPON | SOURCE | LEVELING | EFFECT |
Gjallarhorn | Grasp of Avarice dungeon | 400 Kills | Increases magazine size. Final blows with Wolfpack Rounds spawn a faster & stronger missile at the target's location. |
Izanagi's Burden | Playlist activities | 500 Kills | Increases damage bonus of Honed Edge when all 4 bullets are consumed. |
Dead Man's Tale | Playlist activities | 800 Kills or 8 Secret chests | Increases hipfire rate of fire. Removes hipfire accuracy penalties. |
Ace of Spades | Strikes, Nightfalls | 500 Kills | Firefly does more damage while Memento Mori is active. |
Cloudstrike | Playlist activities | 400 Kills | Rapidly landing precision hits returns one round to the magazine. +25 Handling. |
Here's an example of what a catalyst usually looks like:
