WHAT IS TOUCH OF MALICE?

Touch of Malice is an exotic scout rifle that deals kinetic damage and shoots primary ammo. Obviously, it's deemed a kinetic weapon. We got a chance to get it in Season 18, also known as Season of Plunder. For those of you who have played the first Destiny, this gun might be quite familiar since it was a part of it too. In the second installment of the series, it's still a very powerful gun and we'll tell you more about it below.

HOW IS TOUCH OF MALICE GOOD?

As with most exotics, the answer here lies in the perks. The most notable perk that TOM has is the eponymous Touch of Malice which is both unique and exotic. The idea is that your final round always deals more damage than on average however there's a trade-off: you pay for it with your health, literally. It's not much but it's still basically taking damage to deal more damage. Don't worry too much about it, however: if you prefer rapid fire, you're in great luck. If you down 3 targets with this gun within a short timeframe, you'll get all your HPs back. You don't have to spend 3 last rounds for that – just shoot your enemies with the Touch of Malice and you'll meet the requirements. And even if you don't, you'll still regenerate health over time and your gun will help you with that by speeding up the regeneration.

This is not where all those health-sucking tricks end with TOM. There's another perk that deals with this system too – Charged with Blight. You suck extra life points of your enemies with your precision hits and these points help you charge up a ball of blight (damn!). From time to time, when the charging is done, you can hurl this blight ball into a group of your enemies to blind them. It's a lovely crowd-control tool and you will find lots of uses for it, no doubt.

Several more recommended traits include these: Polygonal Rifling (+10 Stability), Flared Magwell (+15 Reload Speed, +5 Stability), and Hand-Laid Stock (+10 Stability). As you can see, you should expect really, really lots of stability with them which is crucial for making your Touch of Malice exceptionally good. However, mind you that it's not easy to get the right perks. Not all players ever will and blame RNG for that. Speaking of which...

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO OBTAIN IT?

Unfortunately, there's only one way to get this weapon and it's through praying to the God of RNG. Yes, right, you gotta defeat another raid boss, again and again, to get your hands on this beautiful-beautiful scout rifle. This time the boss to repeatedly kill is Oryx, the Taken King, who's the last encounter of the returning classic raid "King's Fall".

The only way to speed it all up and make it at least somewhat fun is to hire pro carries. No, really: imagine not having to find a suitable team and suffering through all those quite challenging fights with random allies.
