How to level up Prestige in Call of Duty Black Ops 6?

Not all people playing Call of Duty Black Ops 6 are sure they understand how the level system works. Is it like previous COD games had it or not? Do you get any bonuses for leveling up? What's up with the Prestige system this time? And how do you accumulate XP fast? Learn right below!

How Does the Level System Work in COD BO6?

Okay, so the good news is that the Prestige system isn't tied to seasons this time. You level it up in your own pace without the fear of missing out. With each level you get various rewards including operators, skins for them, emotes, loading screens, and whatnot.

Upon reaching level 55, you get an opportunity to reset your levels and rank up your prestige. What that means is you get a new shiny Prestige emblem and a +1 to your Prestige level but have to go back to Player Level 1 (from 55) and lose some of the previously unlocked items and your loadouts, and stats. We'll get back to things that you lose and keep in the dedicated Reset section below.

And so it goes until you reach Prestige 10. After that you'll get a whole 1'000 more levels to grind through – it's called Prestige Master. In case you didn't have enough of it with the previously raised 550 levels, that is.

Speaking of Prestige cosmetic rewards, check out what they are (video by Charlie the gamer net):

What's Prestige Reset?

Prestige Reset does 2 things: one's good the other's not. First, it raises your prestige level which unlocks a new cool emblem and a new set of cosmetic rewards waiting for you to unlock them by collecting even more experience. Second, it resets your player level all the way back to 1 from 55, takes away most of the important unlocks (scorestreak abilities, for example), makes most of your loadouts temporarily unaccessible, and rests your stats. Here's a table showing what gets reset and what doesn't in more detail:

RESETS 😭DOESN'T RESET 😀
Player Level (back to 1 from 55)Weapon Progress, Caos, & Sights
Level Unlocks (scorestreaks and more)Weapon Builds (but they remain unusuable until you reach the necessary player level to use it again)
LoadoutsChallenge progress & unlocks
Stats (outside your Combat Record)Store and Battle Pass content
Operator & Emote unlocks
Zombies GobbleGums
Permanently unlocked level unlocks
About the last one in the right column: each Prestige level up gives you a special token that lets you make a certain thing immune to a reset. It's a great thing and you should apply it to something you'd really hate to play without. Each reset will let you have one more such permanently unlocked feature which is even better news! Here's a video with a recommendation on which reward to permanently unlock first (by THE ONE BOOM):

How Do You Level Up Fast?

There are several ways to increase your experience gains. The ones we recommend are:

  1. Stick to the Strategist combat specialty
  2. Grind the Kill Confirmed mode
  3. Complete Zombies challenges
  4. Use Double XP Tokens

Let pros help you level up!

Whether it's your account level, Prestige, weapon level, Battle pass, or any other levels you need help with – we can boost you fast! Our pro players know how to effectively speed up your progress without bots, cheats, and exploits! Browse our COD BO6 Leveling Services to learn more!

1. Stick to the Strategist combat specialty

The Strategist Combat Specialty is unlocked when you choose all your perks to come from the Green category. This specialty lets you easier locate enemy equipment and get more score for destroying it. Also field upgrades and equipment gets deployed faster as well.

Those bonuses make it only natural for you to focus on assisting your team, not on delivering eliminations yourself. And it's for a reason: doing non-lethal actions can sometimes be much easier and help you accumulate score faster which translates to experience.

There are certain things that you should consider adding to your loadout that will complement the Strategist specialty:
  • Tactical Expert Wildcard: get 2 extra pieces of Tactical equipment; (which includes grenades and various gizmos used for distraction, fleeing enemies, or getting more control of the battlefield in some other way);
  • Decoy Grenade: create an illusion of a moving player for 15 seconds thus giving the enemy team an impression of your teammate.
Also consider using these scorestreak items as often as possible:
  • UAV – an aerial recon drone revealing enemies' location on your team's minimaps. Cost: 675. Unlocks at: 9 Lvl;
  • Counter UAV (CUAV) – a drone that scrambles enemies' minimaps. Cost: 700. Unlocks at: 15 lvl;
  • HARP – a high-altitude recon plane revealing enemies' position and direction on your team's minimaps in real time. Cos: 1'450. Unlocks at: 42 Lvl.
This approach to playing isn't perfect for all the modes and maps, but actually they can lead you to easier victories much more often than you might think, so give it a shot. But if you want to be 100% sure that it will work well, check out a particular mode that we'll tell about in the next paragraph...

2. Grind the Kill Confirmed mode

This multiplayer mode is one of the best options if you want to collect lots of XP fast. Its primary objectives are eliminating enemies and picking up dog tags right after. You can pick a tag from a target that someone else has eliminated, too. So it's like each kill gives you double experience: first for the elim, then for the pickup.

The best part is that you can also collect Dog Tags from your fallen teammates. The idea behind that is preventing your enemies from picking them up. And of course you get score and experience for such actions too.

If you choose to stick to the Strategist playstyle in the maps of this mode, it's almost guaranteed that your level progress will become noticeably faster. We especially recommend trying smaller maps like Nuketown or Moshpit as they are intended to be almost literal pits of death where eliminations happen all the time. Which means there'll be plenty of tags to pick up!

3. Complete Zombies challenges

If you want to take a break from the mayhem of multiplayer modes, think of playing the Zombies mode for a while. Completing daily and calling card challenges there is fun and lucrative in terms of experience yield. The game mode is generally more casual and relaxed than the rest, so it's no wonder that people love it.

It's also great that it shares the player level (and hence the Prestige) with other modes. So jump right in, complete 3 Zombies challenges every day, and work towards unlocking calling cards in your own pace. While it might not be the fastest way to reach a high Prestige rank, it's certainly one of the most pressure free.

4. Use Double XP Tokens

An obvious way to increase your experience gain is by activating a double experience token or playing the game on a double XP weekend. There are many ways to get your hands on a token like that: both paid and free. We've told a lot about both in detail in our recent blog post: Call of Duty Double XP Guide – check it out to learn more!
