Call of Duty Double XP guide: how to get it in COD BO6
Leveling up your account in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 takes some time. Lots of time. If you want to reach a particular high level and show off a high Prestige rank, you'll need to grind for days on end. If you don't have that much spare time or if it's just not your thing to play the game until you physically can't go on, you should try using double XP bonuses as often as possible. In this blog post we'll tell you all about this useful thing that will make your journey to high levels much more convenient and faster.
What is Double XP in Call of Duty Black Ops 6?
First of all, don't mix up just Double XP and Double Weapon XP – they are 2 different things and you might need one of them more than the other. The former is what this blog post is going to be focused on: it helps you collect experience for your account faster. The latter applies to the weapon you use: it lets you get twice as much experience for this particular weapon in order to unlock various related power-ups and rewards sooner.
A Double XP boost usually comes in the form of a token. But not all tokens are the same and while you can stock up on some of them, some others can be only used during certain events. When you activate your double XP token, the countdown begins and it doesn't matter whether you play a game or just chill in a lobby. There's no way to pause the token, so you better start playing multiplayer or the Zombies mode as soon as possible after activating a token.
As many other useful things, getting double XP tokens isn't easy and most ways to do that aren't free. However, there are some ways to get them for free...

Are there free ways to get it?
Yes. Not all of them are 100% reliable but it's still good to keep them all in mind just in case.
Prestige
Leveling up your Prestige must be the most popular way to get double XP tokens in the game at the moment. Each level 20 of each Prestige is guaranteed to reward you with a token. You can view the rewards you've collected with improving your Prestige by following this path in the menu: Multiplayer > Barracks > Progression > Prestige.
Double XP Weekend
Some weekends get a special double XP event that lets you have just that: double experience for your account. It also looks like a token, but it doesn't expire in 15 minutes or so. It lasts for as long as the developers have announced, so don't worry about wasting it. The downside of this type of tokens is that you can't store it for later. You either play when the event is live and get bonus experience, or wait for the next one. Also, don't use your other double XP tokens during such events: experience multipliers don't stack in COD BO6, so you'll just waste it.
Battle Pass
Sometimes you can get Double XP Tokens in the free part of the season's battle pass. It's definitely not guaranteed and sometimes you need to play for really, really long to get one, but it's still a possibility. Naturally, a paid version of the battle pass can have them too and the chances are better there, but still.
Social Media Promos
The game's social media accounts can be a source of lots of useful stuff. It's there where you can learn about double XP weekends and other events, for example. Sometimes you can even participate in special promo campaigns that reward various valuable things including double XP tokens. One example of that was the pre-release campaign "Vote for me" that awarded participants with a token. Of course, it's not guaranteed that there's a live social promo campaign going on right now – but why not check the COD account there every once in a while?
Game activities
Actually you can get bonus experience not from tokens as well. All it takes is completing various activities in the game (that is, just playing it). Notable examples of that include:
- Completing 3 daily challenges
- Completing Calling Card challenges
- Completing Master Badges
And others. Those 3 are quite accessible and popular so if you think you need more experience and you need a quick boost, you now know what to consider doing.
Your own collection
While the chances are rather slim, you might still have unused double XP tokens from previous Call of Duty games. If you're lucky to indeed have several, you can actually use them in the latest part of the game – Black Ops 6. It's the first game of the series to support back compatibility for double XP tokens.

What are other ways to get it?

Call of Duty is a major game series so mutual promotions with well-known non-gaming brands are to be expected. And they do happen from time to time and last quite long. Currently (December 2024) there are 2 noteworthy partner promotions that have double XP tokens among rewards. They are Monster Energy and Little Caesars promos. Both are expected to end in January 2025.
With the Monster Energy the idea is to buy cans of Monster with special promo marks on them. Under the ring pull you'll find a code that you can redeem at the special website (monsterenergy.com). Each code will reward you with a 15-minute double XP token. If it's one of your first 6 Monster Energy codes, you'll also get one more reward. The rewards are unlocked in the order given below:

Just to make it clear: if it's your first redeemed code, you'll get the first reward from the list above (The Green Fury Weapon Blueprint). If it's the second one, you get the second reward (The Unleash The Truth Operator Skin). And so on. Once you've redeemed 6 codes, you'll get only a double XP token after that.
As for the Little Caesars promo, it works a bit differently. You need to spend at least $3 with them (for the US, in Canada it's 5 CAN, while in Mexico it's 50 MXN) to get a reward. A reward always includes a double experience token and can include something else. There's no order in which you'll get those rewards – they come randomly. Here's the full list:
