Escape from Tarkov Current Version Update and Patch Notes

The latest confirmed Escape from Tarkov (EFT) main-game patch is 1.2.0.0, installed October 6, 2026. It is the player-versus-environment (PvE) update: PvE Prestige, reworked PMC bots and the EXFIL Brothers program. Battlestate has installed several technical updates since, without a new patch number.

Checked October 10, 2026. Use this reference to check your version, spot changes that affect your next raid, and find the right official notes. The seasonal experience points (XP) event ended October 5, so its boosted rates no longer apply.

Get your PvE character Prestige-ready 🚀

PvE Prestige asks for a high character level, finished tasks and a stocked stash before it lets you reset. Our Escape from Tarkov character boosts cover leveling, skills and Hideout progress, so you reach the requirements without spending every evening on the grind.

🔢 What is the current Escape from Tarkov version?

Patch 1.2.0.0 is the latest confirmed numbered main-game update, checked October 10, 2026. Developer Battlestate Games completed installation on October 6. Check your installed game against that version, then read later notices for changes made without a new numbered patch.

Battlestate's October 6 installation announcement confirms deployment. The table separates that release from the September patches, later fixes and the XP event that has now ended.

How do you check your installed version?

  1. Select Escape from Tarkov in your launcher and check the available update and version information.
  2. Make sure you selected the main game rather than Arena.
  3. If an update is offered, install it before comparing your experience with the current notes.

Keep the full version shown by your client when reporting a problem. A short patch label is useful for reading this page; the complete displayed build gives support more information about your installation.

Also record your profile mode. A report from Seasonal player-versus-player (PvP) can concern a rule that doesn't apply to permanent PvP or PvE. Matching the game, version and mode makes it much easier to find a relevant explanation.

Is a maintenance announcement a new patch?

A maintenance notice doesn't automatically mean a new patch or a wipe. Read whether the notice concerns a client installation, server change or infrastructure work. The difference matters when you're deciding whether to update, wait or recheck a mechanic.

For example, Battlestate scheduled September 29 data-centre maintenance affecting both games and its account services. That notice describes a planned interruption. It doesn't establish a wipe or a new feature release. Official maintenance notice.

Does patch 1.2.0.0 wipe your character?

The 1.2.0.0 notes don't announce a forced character wipe. PvE Prestige is optional: it resets PvE Zone progression only, and only when you choose to Prestige. Seasonal resets are a separate system introduced with KORD BREACH; check the current season countdown and official reset notices when planning seasonal progression. Latest patch notes, season launch rules.

Is Tarkov 1.0 the same as the current patch?

Version 1.0 refers to the release milestone, while later patch numbers identify subsequent updates. The official listing gives November 15, 2025 as the game's release date; that is different from October 6, 2026, the latest numbered patch date. Buying an edition and updating your installed build are also separate choices. Official game listing.

🆕 What changed in the latest Escape from Tarkov update?

Patch 1.2.0.0 is a PvE-focused update. It added PvE Prestige, reworked PMC bots, launched the EXFIL Brothers program and rebalanced Customs and Interchange, alongside server-side changes aimed at reducing rubber-banding. Official 1.2.0.0 notes.

The table sums up what each change means for your next raid.

Change

What is new in 1.2.0.0

Check before your next raid

PvE Prestige

Six levels; each resets PvE Zone progression only, keeping some gear and up to 50% of skills and weapon mastery

The live requirements in your client before you reset

PMC bots in PvE

Already on the location when the raid starts; gear and difficulty follow level and faction; now also in The Labyrinth

Points of interest and task areas, where bots now head more actively

EXFIL Brothers

Referral program: an Operator invites a Candidate, both get a 5% XP bonus raiding together

Eligibility, widened for Candidates on October 9

Customs

New PMC and Scav extracts, new loot spots, ZB-1013 Key and Guard Post Key

Locked containers now guaranteed to hold loot

Interchange

New loot spots and containers, including PMC bodies

ULTRA standalone store registers no longer need keys

What does PvE Prestige change?

PvE Prestige lets a high-level PvE Zone character start again in exchange for permanent rewards. Patch 1.2.0.0 ships six PvE Prestige levels. Each one resets your progression only in PvE Zone, and you can keep some gear plus up to 50% of your skills and weapon mastery.

Requirements can include:

  • a high character level
  • specific tasks
  • Hideout zones
  • the main storyline
  • money and items in your stash
  • skill levels

The first PvE level asks for less than its PvP counterpart. Players who have not reset since the release can do it through Prestige, which also unlocks the release content, the storyline, the Icebreaker chapter and future events.

Most Prestige rewards stay with your PvE character only. A smaller set, including TarCoins, unique melee weapons and a unique Gamma secure container, unlocks in every mode.

How did PMC bots change in PvE?

Every raid now starts with PMC bots already on the location, their numbers vary less, and they move more actively toward points of interest and task areas. PMC bots also spawn in The Labyrinth for the first time.

A bot's gear, weapons and difficulty now follow its level and faction. Low-level bots carry gear closer to early trader stock, while high-level bots are more dangerous. USEC and BEAR bots team up far more often, and PMC bots start fights with Scavs and Bosses more often.

What is EXFIL Brothers?

EXFIL Brothers event official art with two PMC operators

Official EXFIL Brothers art. Image: Battlestate Games

EXFIL Brothers launched with 1.2.0.0. An experienced Operator invites a new Candidate through a referral link on the official website. Both get a 5% XP bonus for raiding together, and each side earns rewards as the Candidate progresses. It works in every Escape from Tarkov mode but not in Arena.

An Operator needs an account older than 7 days and a level 30 character in any mode. On October 9 Battlestate widened Candidate eligibility: a player now qualifies with under 40 hours played, or with an account less than 7 days old. EXFIL Brothers rule change.

What changed on Customs and Interchange?

  • Customs: new PMC and Scav extracts, new loot spots and two new keys, the ZB-1013 Key and Guard Post Key.
  • Interchange: new loot spots and containers, including PMC bodies. The standalone ULTRA store cash registers no longer need keys.
  • Both maps: locked containers are now guaranteed to contain loot.
  • Shoreline: environmental audio was reworked.

What did the September patches change?

The September patches still shape the live game. Patch 1.1.5.1 added seasonal Leagues and fixed issues involving transitions, aiming, optics, trader prices and Lighthouse visuals. The preceding 1.1.5.0 update made broader map and access changes. Read both when you're catching up.

How do seasonal Leagues count progress?

Battlestate describes Leagues as “available only for Seasonal characters”. Groups contain 50 players, with weekly results moving 25 up, keeping 15 at their rank and moving 10 down. Arena XP still reaches the character but doesn't count toward League progress. Leagues rules.

Battlestate's official KORD BREACH trailer, published August 2, introduces the season launched with 1.1.0.0. It is useful context, but current limits and hotfixes come from the later written announcements.

For your next session, decide which progress you want. Improving your character, earning documents and competing on a League leaderboard involve different requirements. Pick the objective before choosing an activity, especially if you only have one evening available.

What changed in Lightkeeper access?

Lightkeeper's opening chain changed in patch 1.1.5.0. The new order:

  1. Get Lighthouse access through the Tour storyline.
  2. Reach Loyalty Level 3 with all traders except Fence and Ref.
  3. Ask Mechanic about working with Lightkeeper.

Check the current task dialogue before following an older checklist. Official September 8 access notes.

What changed in trader prices and Icebreaker entry?

September changes include trader currency pricing and a fix to ammo-pack sale-price calculations. Use the current trader offer when budgeting. A price shown in a launch video may describe an earlier build or a different offer.

Icebreaker access also changed in 1.1.5.0: the route uses a single-use Sudak-tudak marine repair kit instead of a rouble payment. The kit is tied to Ragman's Pay the Fare! task and subsequent operational rewards. Official access changes.

Before an Icebreaker run, check the repair kit in your stash and the active Ragman requirement. An old route description can get the geography right while giving you an outdated shopping list.

Which map and aiming changes affect your next raid?

Escape from Tarkov Patch 1.1.5 official announcement art

Official patch 1.1.5 art. Image: Battlestate Games

The Lighthouse rework moved Rogues to the mountain chalets, removed landmines from the water treatment plant and added routes and cover. Loot distribution changed, too. Older directions around those areas need checking. The same patch listed a fix to bot reactions to gas grenade throws. Lighthouse changes.

Patch 1.1.5.1 addressed particular aiming and optic issues, including a performance drop when using some hybrid optics. A named fix doesn't establish a measured frames-per-second (FPS) gain for your PC. It gives you a specific situation to reassess. 1.1.5.1 fixes.

If you're checking a performance change, use comparable settings and conditions where practical. Record the map, optic, mode and symptom. That is more useful than comparing unrelated raids or assuming every slowdown has the same cause.

Budget for the new trader prices 💰

September moved trader currency prices, and Prestige wants money sitting in your stash. Our Tarkov roubles and currency boosts fill the stash so a price change does not stall your next upgrade.

🔧 Which hotfixes and balance changes followed the launch?

Post-launch notices changed document limits, access costs and technical behaviour. Read these notices alongside the numbered patch notes. The dates below help you separate lasting adjustments from the seasonal XP event. A temporary reward rate isn't a permanent progression rule.

Which fixes followed patch 1.2.0.0?

Battlestate installed technical updates on October 6 and October 9 without a new patch number. The first October 9 update fixed:

  • Zryachiy's position on Lighthouse
  • Boss behaviour toward player Scavs with Fence reputation above 6
  • exits on several locations
  • an ending not registering if another ending had already been earned
  • spots on Customs where characters got stuck

A second update that day fixed some players being unable to load into a raid as a Scav. October 9 fix list, Scav loading fix.

Two balance changes also landed without a patch number. Shortly before the patch, on October 2, skill leveling was adjusted so all character skills increase up to 60% faster in every mode. On October 9, Partisan's base spawn chance on Lighthouse, Shoreline, Woods and Customs rose to 25%; in PvP and Seasonal modes the final chance still depends on low-karma PMCs in the raid. Skill leveling change, Partisan spawn change.

What are the daily Battle Pass document limits?

Battlestate increased the daily Battle Pass document ceilings on August 13, 2026. Counting starts after you extract at least one document. The official document-limit update replaces the older figures shown in this comparison.

Profile mode

Earlier daily ceiling

Confirmed daily ceiling

Seasonal

25 documents

30 documents, August 13

Permanent PvP

15 documents

20 documents, August 13

PvE

10 documents

15 documents, August 13

The limits are ceilings, not expected raid yields. Document-limit progress is shared across modes under the official season launch rules. Switching modes doesn't give you three separate daily pools. Don't add the ceilings into a 65-document allowance.

Check your remaining allowance before planning the collection run. Our Battle Pass documents and locations guide covers the routes and collection task in more detail.

Which later changes affected Lighthouse access and Uley rigs?

On September 11, a separate balancing announcement reduced Lighthouse access through Tour to 8,000 in-game dollars. Reading only the September 8 patch page can miss that later prerequisite change. Official Lighthouse price adjustment.

September 18 brought a main-game technical update, installed alongside Arena's update 0.6.0. Another technical notice fixed Uley armoured-rig slots appearing empty after items had been moved into them. These were later than 1.1.5.1's release date. Update completion, Uley fix.

What was the seasonal XP event?

The seasonal combat XP event ended October 5, 2026 at 10:00 AM British Summer Time (BST). The deadline was also 10:00 AM in Lisbon. Battlestate announced the increased rates on September 29. The bonus applied to the seasonal mode named in the official event announcement.

The event compared private military contractor (PMC) kills, Scav kills and PMC dogtag pickups with their ordinary XP values:

Action

Ordinary value stated in notice

Event value

Eliminate a PMC

120 XP

600 XP

Eliminate a Scav, including a player Scav

55 XP

110 XP

Pick up a PMC dogtag

20 XP

200 XP

The event is over, so the ordinary values apply again. Plan seasonal sessions on those rather than the event column.

The same notice says Lighthouse airdrops returned to their usual contents and frequency after the weekend event. Battle Pass documentation remains in the operational-task reward pool until KORD BREACH ends. Those statements have different durations, so don't apply one deadline to all three changes. Event and reward-pool details.

Is version 1.2.0.0 already available?

Yes. Battlestate completed the 1.2.0.0 installation on October 6, 2026. The September 23 PvE Prestige preview and September 30 PvE bot preview described features that the release notes now list as live, including artificial intelligence (AI) PMC behaviour and equipment. Where a preview and the final notes differ, follow the notes: the preview said PvE Prestige requirements would be similar to PvP, while the release notes give the first PvE level reduced requirements.

Before you Prestige, check the live requirements in your game client. Prestige resets your PvE progression, so confirm what you keep and what you lose first.

📚 Which Tarkov guides should you recheck after an update?

Prioritise guides with prices, access requirements, daily limits or mode-specific progression rules. Map routes need attention after a location rework, too. General explanations can remain useful even when one number or prerequisite needs correction.

Which guide details should you check first?

A route depends on the current map and access rules. A reward plan depends on the selected reward card and its required resources. A seasonal build depends on the modifier values currently offered. Check that dependency before committing equipment or time.

Use our KORD BREACH Season 1 guide for the seasonal systems. This current-version page supplies the dated changes that can affect it; the season guide supplies the broader explanation.

For reward planning, keep the BattlePass rewards guide beside the actual reward screen. Check the requirement for your selected card rather than assuming a new XP bonus changes document costs.

How much of an older guide can you still use?

Match the claim to the update. A changed access item can invalidate a preparation step without making the entire route useless. A relocated enemy group can change the route itself. Review the affected instruction rather than rejecting or trusting the whole page because of its publication date.

Check whether the guide says when its mechanics were verified. A recently edited date helps only when the relevant claim was reviewed. If a current official notice contradicts an older number, follow the notice and confirm the live interface.

Skip the reworked task chains 🗝️

Patch 1.1.5.0 rebuilt the Lightkeeper chain and changed several Lighthouse tasks. Rated 4.9/5 across 4,800+ Trustpilot reviews, our Tarkov quest boosts complete trader and Lightkeeper tasks for you, so a changed prerequisite does not cost you a week of raids.

📜 Where are the official Escape from Tarkov patch notes?

Start with Battlestate's official Steam announcements and Tarkov Telegram channel. Check the game name, publication date and deployment status. Community threads help you identify symptoms and workarounds, but a thread title alone doesn't establish a version or confirmed fix.

Which official channels should you check?

The official Steam announcement history provides the main game's dated release notes. The official Tarkov Telegram channel also publishes installations, balance changes, events and previews. Follow the patch-note links from those announcements when you need the complete list.

Read the game name on each notice. Arena appears in the same social feed and has its own updates. Its September 30 technical patch and October 1 hit-registration change don't change the main game's version number. Arena server-change announcement.

Symptoms and workarounds

A lead to check, not a confirmed fix

How should you use Reddit and forum reports?

Use them to identify a symptom worth checking. Look for the date, full version, mode and circumstances before adopting a suggested explanation. A report can be real without proving that everyone experiences it or that a particular change caused it.

For a launch or connection problem, first check whether a current official interruption applies. For a task problem, compare the active requirement with the latest notes. If neither explains it, record the build, mode, time, action and exact error for support. Include whether you were playing solo or in a group.

Avoid changing multiple settings at once while trying to understand a new symptom. One change at a time makes it easier to tell whether the result helped. Don't treat an old forum workaround as necessary merely because its title resembles your problem.

✅ What should you recheck before buying equipment or planning a route?

Confirm your profile, task prerequisite, destination access, equipment price and event deadline. This small review matters most when you're using a route, shopping list or reward estimate made before the latest announcement. Start with the detail your next session depends on.

Use a short pre-raid checklist

Run through these five checks before you gear up:

  1. Confirm your profile mode and the task you intend to progress.
  2. Confirm the destination prerequisite and required access item.
  3. Confirm your equipment budget against current trader offers.
  4. Confirm the selected reward's XP, document or task requirements.
  5. Confirm the event deadline and its time zone before a bonus-dependent session.

For a squad run, check that everyone has the access your route needs. An XP bonus doesn't automatically reduce document costs or remove task gates. Keep those requirements in your plan even during an XP event.

The seasonal XP event ended October 5 at 10:00 AM BST, but KORD BREACH itself continues. Check the official channel for the season's end before planning long seasonal goals.

For the next task after that check, browse our Escape from Tarkov guides. Use the guide for your objective and this dated reference for changes that can affect its instructions.
