What is actually Crota's End?
Crota's End is a Destiny 2 raid that opened its gates for players in September 2023 in the Season of the Witch (AKA season 22) which was a part of the Lightfall expansion. This raid features 4 bosses, including Crota, 1 exotic weapon, and lots of other valuable loot. The addition of the raid to Destiny 2 is a sort of reprisal as the first part of the game also featured the raid with the same name and with the same last boss. So old fans surely gets enough content to be content!
What bosses can I find there?
Like most other modern raids in Destiny 2, Crota's end features 4 major boss encounters. Here they are in the exact order:
- Lantern encounter
- Bridge encounter
- Deathsinger
- Crota
The first 2 encounters don't involve bosses proper, they are just challenging trials for you to test your skills. The Lantern encounter involves running through a dark dungeon that has several huge lamps. You get a debuff that reduces your speed and to get rid of it, you gotta approach a lamp and stay near it for some time. The trick is that is you do that for too long, the lamp explodes killing you and all your allies nearby. So the idea is to remove debuffs but not spend too much time on it. And you gotta move all the time to reach the end of the dungeon. And hey, did you think that there would be no enemies attacking you all the time along the way? There will be hordes of them!
The bridge encounter is about... crossing a bridge. That's right, that's the main objective. But there's also a trick involved: only one guardian at a time can do it. And that one guardian can only do that when they acquire a special sword from a special mob. So your team will have to cross the bridge one guardian at a time. Enemies are numerous on both sides of the bridge, so you might've already guessed what the challenge is: the closer your team is to completing the objective, the tougher the fight becomes for those left on the initial side of the bridge, so to speak.
The Deathsinger encounter finally has a proper boss. The main focus of this battle is speed: you gotta finish the wizard as fast as possible, since otherwise she'll finish her deathsong and wipe out your whole team. Don't expect it to be easy though as there are several mini-bosses in your way as well as lots of Hive.
Crota is the final boss of the raid and that title is well-deserved. You can't regenerate health during this battle in any way other than grabbing the special item in the boss room. There's only one such item and your team has to pass it to damaged teammates to heal them – this obviously requires lots of high-quality team communication. Crota himself ignores most of your damage yet is capable of shredding any guardian to pieces with just one hit. The only way to attack him effectively is by wielding a special sword that unique knight mobs drop. And you can't just pick up the sword and charge at Crota – you gotta exhaust him with gunfire first. That's lots of planning and team coordination, so you got the idea. Doing it with pros is surely a good idea. Otherwise this Crota can prove to be pain in the scrota neck, you know.
