Collective Obligation exotic unlock boost

What is Collective Obligation?

Collective Obligation is an exotic energy pulse rifle. We first got a chance to obtain it back in Season 16 (Season of the Risen), the first part of the Witch Queen expansion's content cycle. This pulse rifle deals with void energy and uses primary (white) ammo. Lots of players consider it one of the best picks for the Void subclass and if you happen to main it, you're interested in the right weapon for sure!

What makes this gun so good?

As it's usually the case with exotic weapons, its main power comes from its stats and perks. The stats of any exotic gun are higher than average. For example, Aim Assistance at 68 is quite a pleasant stat to have. The perks of any exotic gun include at least one unique exotic perk which is exclusive to this particular weapon. For Collective Obligation that unique perk is "Void Leech". It works this way: first, you apply various Void debuffs on your targets. If any of your abilities inflict some crowd-control effect on them (like "suppressed", "weakened", or "volatile"), you can "suck" all the applied Void debuffs by shooting at those targets with your Collective Obligation. After you change the firing mode, you can shoot at other targets to apply the leeched debuffs. So it's quite an interesting tool that helps you control the battlefield better.

Another great perk is Umbral Sustenance. It makes your magazine reload much faster – instant, in fact. This instant reloading is triggered whenever you go invisible, get a Void overshield, or gain Devour. All those things are also quite easily achievable for guardians with the Void subclass.

Other curated rolls include these bonuses: Arrowhead Brake (+24 recoil, +10 handling), Flared Magwell (+15 reload speed, +5 stability), and  Hand-Laid Stock (+10 stability). You should remember that it's not always possible to get the right roll: the curated perks are preferable but if you don't get a weapon with those perks, don't worry. It's still going to be an insanely powerful pulse rifle, it's just having that very set of perks makes it show the maximum of its potential. You might not even need that or, perhaps, your playstyle is better suited by other bonuses. So don't be sad if you eventually get this gun with some other perks.

How do you unlock it?

There's only one way to unlock it: defeat Rhulk, the last boss of the Vow of the Disciple raid, as many times as possible. We mean, you can of course be very lucky to get this weapon after your first kill of the boss but that's quite rare indeed. The drop rate is very low and there's hardly anything you can do about it. Just clear the raid every week at least twice (Regular and Master versions) and at some point, you will finally get your hands on this beauty. 

The sad news here is that clearing the Vow of the Disciple is not exactly easy. You need a good team and you should know what you are doing there at each boss too. That is, the tactics – it's essential for completing the raid fast. If you're not sure that you can arrange a team run with good players every week, consider hiring our pro team!
