What is Bite of the Fox?

Bite of the Fox is a legendary kinetic sniper rifle. It shoots Special (green) ammo to deal Kinetic damage and you can't craft it. It was introduced in Season 20 (Defiance) at the very beginning of the Lightfall content cycle.

What makes this weapon so desirable?

It's one of the best picks for PvP players who prefer this type of weapon. Bite of the Fox is one of the few top-tier sniper rifles that you can get by actually playing PvP and doing nothing else. It's a great advantage for players who just don't care about PvE modes. Its stats are great and you can improve its range to some crazy numbers. The most attractive part of this weapon, however, as it usually is with legendaries, is its perks. Let's take a look at the curated roll to have a better idea of what to expect:

• Polygonal Rifling (+10 Stability)
• Extended Mag (+1 Magazine slot, +10 Airborne effectiveness, but -20 Reload speed)
• Snapshot Sights (faster aiming down sights: -50% for primary weapons and -20% for secondary ones)
• Iron Gaze (+20 Aim assistance, but -30 Range)
• Skulking Wolf (gives you an ability to remove yourself from enemies' radars)

The last one is no ordinary perk – it's an origin trait and you will find it on every roll of this sniper rifle. It has a purely PvP bonus: when your HP is low, you can remove yourself from opposing radar by delivering a final blow with your Bite of the Fox, while getting an enhanced radar for yourself. However, you don't become completely invisible as your shots still ping enemies' radars.

Don't forget that the list above represents the curated roll which is rarely identical to a god roll (since the community always knows better!). So don't worry if you get a version of this sniper rifle with slightly different perks. Snapshot Sights is what you should absolutely have on it as it's really powerful and most god rolls include it. Iron Gaze is also a great option although it's somewhat limiting considering the range reduction that you have to take as a tradeoff of its insane aim assistance bonus. Opening Shot is an alternative to Iron Gaze and it greatly enhances your first shot of an attack. The shot gets +20 Aim assist, +25 Range, -5% accuracy cone size, and -10% accuracy cone growth. A nice way to pick up a fight, isn't it?

How do I obtain it in Destiny 2?

It's the first sniper rifle to have this source, by the way – a welcome extension of the reward-table for this game mode.
