WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2: 5 essential things you should know
WoW Season of Discovery has been a great experience so far. It looks like Blizzard managed to find the right formula. This is truly the WoW Classic+ that players had asked for so long. Everything works great in it: the good old Vanilla world with previously unreleased new features generously sprinkled over it.
And the best part is that we haven't even seen most of that new content yet. We've only had a chance to try the first phase of Season of Discovery. The second one, luckily, gets released really soon. In this brief and informative blog post we've gathered all the info you should know about it!
What is it?
Phases in Season of Discovery are major updates that make more content available. Since the idea of SOD is giving us Classic+, we should expect lots of surprises and new takes on familiar activities.
SOD phases come with max level increase which means that we'll get access to content that is more challenging than what we've already seen. Will this phase rely only on the new things that have already been introduced in the first phase? Or will it bring something completely new to the table? It's impossible to predict since the developers want to turn our experience with the game into real exploration, hence they won't give us all the data beforehand.
But there's something that we already know for sure and we'll tell you all about it below.
When does it come out?
February 8, 2024 is the release date for phase 2. There's still some time to prepare: level up your character, gear it up, and get ready to continue your journey!

What is the new level cap?
The new level cap is going to be 40. That means that there'll be 15 more levels to raise for your character. Here are some zones that will likely become a part of your 25-40 journey too:

Will there be new runes?
Of course! That has been confirmed, however it's still unknown which those runes are, what they will do, and how many of them are coming. That's one of the discoveries that we'll have to make ourselves!
So far the rune system has been fun and we're definitely happy that Blizzard keep adding more runes. That's what makes SOD so special.

What other major things are added?
Among other noteworthy things that the game will receive with Phase 2 is the new raid. Well, it's new in the same sense in which the Blackfathom Deeps was a new raid. This time the dungeon promoted to a 10-people instance is Gnomeregan. Yeah, sorry, Horde players, but the main raiding spot of the phase will be next doors to one of the Alliance's capitals this time.
Thankfully, unlike Ashenvale, Dun Morogh won't host all the main activities of the phase. While it has the raid enrance, the PvP mayhem will be elsewhere – the Stranglethorn Vale. It's still unknown what the new PvP event is going to be like. But what is clear and confirmed is that it's going to be completely different from that in Ashenvale. Hopefully, it will be a bit more well-polished too.
