An active WoW subscription or Game Time gets you into World of Warcraft: Forever at launch. Blizzard’s new take on original Azeroth caps progression at level 60. Before you log in, check your Battle.net account and agree on a ruleset with your friends. Blizzard’s launch overview

Be level 60 before the raids open 🐉

Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair need level 60. Rated 4.8/5 across 4,900+ Trustpilot reviews, our Fast Start Bundle takes a character to level 60 and adds riding skill in every tier, with pre-raid gear in the Gold tier.

🌍 What is WoW Forever?

World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate version of WoW set in a reimagined original Azeroth. You level from 1 to 60 through familiar areas and new zones. Blizzard adds quests, dungeons, and account-wide progression through the Legacy System. Blizzard’s overview of what’s new

What do the new zones, dungeons, and raids change?

Blizzard Entertainment announced WoW Forever at BlizzCon 2026. The new version of WoW builds on the original World of Warcraft with over 1,000 new quests. It keeps the level cap at 60. Blizzard drew on lessons from WoW Classic and Season of Discovery when designing Forever. Blizzard’s BlizzCon recap · Blizzard’s launch overview

  • Leveling. Blizzard highlights four new or reimagined zones. Zephras Isle is the Skyborne starting area for levels 1-12. The Riverglades gives you another questing option from the mid-30s to the mid-40s. Mount Hyjal and Shen’dralas give you more places to explore.
  • Five-player gameplay. Nine new dungeons span levels 13-60. Try Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge at levels 13-18 for an easier Alliance approach. Horde groups have easier access to Ruins of Lordaeron above Undercity at levels 15-20. Blizzard’s dungeon levels and access notes
  • Level-60 raids. The Barrow Deeps takes 10 players. Hyjal Summit takes 20, and Onyxia’s Lair takes 40. Blizzard scheduled all three for December 9, 2026. Use those group sizes to decide what to work toward with friends.

How does the Legacy System work?

Legacy Points come from challenges such as reaching class milestones or training a crafting profession. For most players, the first point comes at level 25. Start with one character. Points can benefit your other non-Hardcore characters, but you can earn perks without leveling an alt. Blizzard’s Legacy System guide

Bank Legacy Points while you play 🏅

Every Legacy Challenge you finish earns one account-wide point. Our Legacy Points service completes the PvE or PvP activities you pick, one point for each, plus the loot and reputation they drop.

Is WoW Forever worth trying if Retail felt overwhelming?

Try one evening of leveling with a friend. Choose Enhanced if you want quest markers and a single inventory view. It also turns transmog on by default. Pick Classic if you prefer fewer markers. You can change those settings later. Your ruleset and faction are the choices to settle before creating a character. You and a friend can pick different experience presets and still quest together. Match your region, ruleset, and faction first. Blizzard’s preset and grouping overview

Already know your class from Retail? Read the tooltips again. Forever changes abilities and talents and adds class and race combinations such as Undead Paladins and Dwarf Shamans. Bring the class you enjoy, then learn its Forever toolkit as you level. Blizzard’s overview of class changes

🤝 What should you do before making a character?

Agree on your region, ruleset, and faction before anyone makes a character. For questing in a group, dungeons, and raids, your party needs the same ruleset and faction. A five-minute group chat can save someone from starting over. Blizzard’s grouping and ruleset guide

  1. Confirm your region. Check that everyone plans to use the same WoW region.
  2. Pick a ruleset together. Normal suits groups that want to quest without frequent open-world player-versus-player combat. Pick PvP if everyone wants that risk. Roleplay and Roleplay PvP are also launch options. Blizzard plans to add Hardcore after launch.
  3. Agree on Alliance or Horde. Settle this before you choose your race. If you’re split across factions, you’ll need characters on the same side to run dungeons together.
  4. Pick a class you’ll enjoy tonight. For a first group run, agree on who wants to tank, heal, or deal damage.
  5. Set one goal. Finish a starter quest chain or meet at a named quest hub. Choose a goal everyone can reach in that session.

Send this before anyone makes a character. “EU · Normal · Horde. Let’s pick a quest hub when we’re in.” Swap in your group’s choices. If you pick a different ruleset, you’ll need a new character on theirs to join their dungeon runs. Blizzard’s ruleset policy
