How to get money fast in GTA 5 Online?
Cash is one of the most important resources in GTA Online. Knowing the best money making methods that return results fast is very important. It will let you purchase all the things you need in the game much sooner: vehicles, real estate, outfits, businesses, and everything else you can think of.
In this blog post we've collected the most lucrative ways of how to get money fast in GTA 5 Online and gave each of them a detailed description to help you navigate in the chaotic but exciting world of Los Santos. Let's roll!
1. Heists
Not everyone will agree with that, of course. But we'd say that heists are certainly very thrilling and adrenaline-filled. If you still haven't given them a try, you certainly should. They are not just fun, they can also make you rich.
What are heists?
Heists in GTA V Online are a major high-end activity and a great money making method. It involves several preparatory activities most of which are so-called setup missions and one final hit.
With setups you get ready for the big crime that constitutes the final mission. You can complete most of them by yourself if you're a heist leader. A heist leader is a person that invests funds in a heist and who's responsible for setting it up and finding people to complete it with. The leader is also the one who decides who gets what share of the loot.
The only downside of these activities is that they can be a bit more challenging than most players would love. The Diamond Casino heist, for instance, is notorious for being quite unforgiving at its harder difficulty. But if you want to get lots of GTA Online money fast, if you want that luxurious high-end apartment and a crazy car to participate in premium races – you need to push hard for all that to become reality for you.
Here's an example of what a good heist run can look like:
Which heists bring most money fast?
- Diamond Casino: Diamonds (up to $3.6M)
- Diamond Casino: Gold (up to $2.8M)
- Diamond Casino: Artwork (up to $2.5M)
- Diamond Casino: Cash (up to $2;3M)
- Doomsday: The Doomsday scenario (up to $2.2M)
- Cayo Perico: Panther statue (up to $2M)
- The Pacific standard (up to $1.8M)
- Doomsday: The Bogdan problem (up to $1.7M)
- Cayo Perico: Pink (up to $1.4M)
- Doomsday: The data breaches (up to $1.2M)
# | HEIST | # OF PLAYERS | SETUP COST | REWARDS |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Diamond Casino: Diamonds | 2-4 | $25'000 |
|
2 | Diamond Casino: Gold | 2-4 | $25'000 |
|
3 | Diamond Casino: Artwork | 2-4 | $25'000 |
|
4 | Diamond Casino: Cash | 2-4 | $25'000 |
|
5 | Doomsday: The Doomsday scenario | 2-4 | $25'000 |
|
6 | Cayo Perico: Panther statue | 1-4 | $100'000 |
|
7 | The Pacific standard | 4 | $25'000 |
|
8 | Doomsday: The Bogdan problem | 2-4 | $25'000 |
|
9 | Cayo Perico: Pink diamond | 1-4 | $100'000 |
|
10 | Doomsday: The data breaches | 2-4 | $25'000 |
|
Each of those heists has their own advantage. For example, The Pacific standard is the only heist on the list that has an easy version for those who want to earn a solid sum of money without much pressure. Also, it's the only Vanilla heist here – most such heists have the easy mode.
The Diamond Casino heists, on the other hand, come as a separate bunch of content but they are very, very lucrative. If you really enjoy the thrill of GTA Online heists and want to focus on making money fast during your playtime, you should consider unlocking all of them.
Here's another take on which heists are good and which are not so much:
2. Special & Vehicle Cargo
- Setting up an eterprise and buying an office
- Buying a warehouse
Both of them can be accessed through your office computer. Now let's take a closer look at what these cargo missions are in GTA Online.
What's Special Cargo missions?
- Buy missions
- Sell missions
They are quite similar in gameplay: you need to deliver a truck with cargo to a particular destination. In "buy supplies" missions that destination is your warehouse (and you need to take it from the seller), while in sell missions its vice versa: you take it from your warehouse to the buyer.
But don't expect it to be a meditative experience. When you're en route in your truck, you're marked in the map for all other players. If they hijack, destroy, or steal supplies from you in any way, they'll get a pretty reward for that, so you have to finish the delivery quickly.
You can scale up your cargo missions: options with 1, 2, or 3 deliveries are available. The more trucks you have to take to the destination, the longer it will take, and the harder for you it will be to make it in once piece. But we can say from our experience that how hard it is to accomplish it, depends on the lobby. If there are many bloodthirsty players currently active in your GTA Online lobby, that's bad luck. If you're lucky to not have anyone like that around, it will be a breeze.
It's possible to deliver quite many cargos if you know the city well and if there are no aggressive players coming for you. $300k per hour is surely a reachable figure which is a healthy rate for making money in GTA Online fast.
What's Vehicle Cargo missions?
So when you do a "buy" mission, you usually actually steal cars, not buy them. Most of the time that means that the previous owner of the car must go. For good. The cars you're looking for might just stand in some place and you just need to hop in and take them to your warehouse. Or they might have someone inside, so you'll have to get rid of the occupant. And sometimes those cars are parked in some special area guarded by mobsters, so you have to clear to the area before taking the car.
We strongly recommend using a freight helicopter known as Cargobob for stealing cars. Most of the times it helps you speed up the process drastically. However, when you play in public lobbies it might not be the best solution since players tend to focus more on huge objects that they can destroy for easy money. That's just the way GTA Online players are. And Cargobob is just like that. So we'd advise doing Vehicle Cargo buy missions in private lobbies if you choose to use Cargobob for them.
Sell missions are much more lucrative in public lobbies so that's where you should do them. That means no helicopter – pick other options. Sometimes there's no way around just driving a car to the destination since there are additional requirements that you have to meet like driving the delivered vehicle at a certain speed, for instance.
And of course you should keep the delivered car as safe from harm as possible. Don't crash it to the point where it looks like junk. Each hit makes your earning less. So be careful.
3. Auto Shop Robbery Contracts
This high-yield activity requires some preparation. First of all, you need to purchase an Auto Shop business, obviously. Auto Shops are properties that you can purchase. Contracts are just one way to earn money fast with them.
After you've become a proud owner of such an enterprise, carry on to do the task "Impounded Car". Completing it will unlock a job board to you. With the help of it you'll be able to access a dedicated interaction menu and do Robbery Contracts which are a sort of solo small heists. There'll be several missions you'll need to complete in the given order. First several setup missions (usually not more than 2), then a final one.
Each time you access the board, you'll be offered the daily playlist consisting of 3 robbery contracts. It's advisable to complete as many of them as you can, of course. Here are the listed from the most lucrative to least:
CONTRACT | REWARD | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|---|
The Union Depository contract | Up to $375'000 | The reward depends on how well you perform during the contract completion. The lowest pay is $300K. The robbery focuses on breaking into the Union Depository vault, snatching gold, and getting it to the client. |
The Superdollar deal | $185'000 | Find a way to stop a military convoy and snatch a piece of important tech from them. |
The Agency deal | $182'000 | Get valuable intel from a high-rank drug dealer. |
The Lost contract | $180'000 | Find a way to demolish meth labs, steal the last bunch of the drug, and take it to the client. |
The Bank contract | $178'000 | Do several bank robberies. |
The Prison contract | $175'000 | Break into a heavily-guarded jail and eliminate particular inmates. |
The E.C.U. job | $172'000 | Find a way to access the insides of a moving train and extract a valuable tech out of it. |
The Data contract | $170'000 | Find a secret base and extract valuable intel. |
Wow, what a list! You'd think you'll settle down after purchasing an auto shop but alas! Repairing cars would be too boring so here's a way to spice it up! Inhabitants of GTA Online just can't seem to get enough!
It's possible to complete 2 of such robberies within an hour, so you'll get no less than $300'000 within that time. It's a good money making method and you should definitely have it on your daily objectives list.
4. Agency Security Contracts
Once a business has been bought, you'll get a dedicated Agency office. It has a special computer storing all the related security contracts. Access it to see what's currently available. Most of them focus on eliminating a particular NPC under special conditions. A single contract yields up to $70k.
Since they are quite short and easy, it's possible to complete about 3-4 of them within an hour. Mind that there's a cooldown between completion of a contract and taking another one. It lasts just 5 minutes but it's still a nuisance.
CONTRACT TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
Asset protection | Defend assets for 10 minutes. The more of them stay intact, the more money you'll receive to your bank account upon delivery. |
Gang termination | Arrive at a hostile gang base, fight through mobsters, and eliminate 4 high-rank members. |
Liquidize assets | Follow a target to their destination, at the destination destroy their cargo and plant explosives to demolish their base. |
Recover valuables | Find a safe, find a code to open it, and extract the contents. |
Rescue operation | Eliminate all hostiles attacking an ally and take the ally to a safehouse. |
Vehicle recovery | Find the place where the stolen car is kept, eliminate the guards, and take the car back to the agency's vehicle warehouse. There are several optional scenarios for this type of contracts like retrieving a pet that's been left in a car that you first need to locate. |
There are also different difficulties available for them. They affect the final pay that you get for successfully completing a contract. The difficulties are:
- Professional (the easiest) – up to $42'000 per contract
- Specialist (middle) – up to $56'000 per contract
- Specialist+ (the hardest) – up to $70'000 per contract
While these activities might not be the optimal way of making money fast, it's still worth doing them since they are quite fast and easy to complete. If you just log into GTA Online for an hour or so to relax, it might be the right thing to focus on.
Here's a brief video guide about security contracts if you prefer watching over reading:
5. Payphone hits
Unlike Agency contracts though, hits are accessible not via the office computer but via random payphones in the street. If you hear a payphone ring, just come up to it and interact with it to get a task. Another way to get a hit mission is by contacting Franklin with your own mobile phone. Take a look at what those hits are in action:
A single successful payphone hit brings you up to $15k for just completing it. However, there's a bonus system that can increase the total return up to $85k which exceeds what Agency contracts pay. Mind that you won't be able to make as much each time you complete a hit but it's absolutely possible to do that.
Most hits can be done without any additional requirements. These hits are exactly like that:
- CEO
- Cofounder
- Judge
- Popstar
- Tech entrepreneur
- Trolls
However, several hits require at least 2 people in your organization or motorcycle club. Without meeting that condition, you just won't get these hit tasks:
- Dealers
- Hitmen
Hits are a fast and fun activity that also yields a decent amount of money fast for the (relatively little) effort it requires. So you can deem it as another casual and non-demanding GTA Online activity.
So those were the most profitable money making methods in GTA V Online. This is just a tip of the iceberg and there are lots of other things you can do for money making like doing motorcycle club businesses, setting up passive businesses, and other methods to get you closer to a million dollars per day rate. Trying to catch up with them all might leave you out of breath but don't worry! You don't have to spend each minute of your game time being extremely effective. Remember to take it easy and take breaks.
Besides, if you don't feel like playing any more but want to earn money in an even larger amount, the game might simply turn into a second job. Which is a very unfortunate fate for any hobby.
