If you want to make your Escape from Tarkov character as strong as it can be, you need to shake hands with all the important NPCs and be in good terms with them. The Lightkeeper is an example of such an NPC and in this brief but informative blog post you'll find all you need to know to make the most of what he offers.
Who is the Lightkeeper?
THe Lightkeeper is a trader in Escape from Tarkov. He offers lots of quests and sells services instead of goods which is unique for an EFT trader. You can find the Lightkeeper inside the Lighthouse building on the 3rd floor. The map where you can find the building is also called the Lighthouse.
Just don't try heading to that place without completing prerequisites. That will end badly as the bridge to the Lighthouse building is mined and guarded by snipers. To learn how to overcome all those obstacles, read on! But first let's talk about why you should actually spend your time on it.
Is unlocking him worth the time?
The Lightkeeper is a rare kind of a trader: he doesn't sell any goods but he offers several useful services. The total number of them is 3 and below you can find their description:
SERVICE | COST | UNLOCK QUEST | INFO |
---|
Rogue support | - 2 Secure magnetic tape cassettes
- 2'500 Euros
| Provocation | Rogues don't attack you during 1 raid. Moreover, they will provide fire support by attacking your targets. |
Sacred amulet | - 3 Intelligence folders
- 1'000 Euros
| Snatch | Cultists don't attack you until provoked (excluding Zryachiy's guards). Has 7 charges. You can unequip it to save charges for later. |
Zryachiy support | - 3 Military flash drives
- 2'000 Dollars
| Make an Impression | Zryachiy supports you by firing at your targets. |
While pricey, these services can be a great help during a particularly important raid run. So despite not having regular wares, this trader still offers something very valuable and you shouldn't disregard him. Take a look at what those services look like in the game in this video by DISTRUCT EN:

How do you unlock the Lightkeeper?
This process consists of 3 parts:
- Raising the Scav Karma to 1.0
- Completing all the prerequisite quests
- Completing a special questline
The first 2 parts can be done simultaneously, while the third one can only be started after the first two are finished. Let's take a closer look at each of them.
Alternatively, if you prefer videos to texts, here's a comprehensive video guide by s0mz that can help you too:
Raise your Scav Karma to 1.0
You don't have to start with it, but you definitely should bear it in mind and do activities that raise your Scav Karma rather than lower it. Here's a list of activities that do just that:
KARMA GAIN | ACTIVITY |
---|
0.25 (1st time) | Use a co-op extraction as a PMC or Scav |
0.2 (1st time) | Use a car extraction as a PMC |
0.05 | Help a Scav Boss |
up to 0.04 (from 0.01) | Complete a Scav Task as a Scav |
0.03 | Kill a traitor Scav as a Scav |
0.02 | Help a Scav Boss Guard |
0.02 | As a Scav, kill a PMC that has killed a Scav |
up to 0.02 (from 0.01) | Help a Scav |
0.01 | Extract as a Scav |
So those were things that you should do to reach the desired karma sooner. And here are things that you should avoid:
KARMA LOSS | ACTIVITY |
---|
0.2 | Kill a Scav Boss as a Scav |
0.1 | Kill a player Scav as a Scav |
0.05 | Kill a Scav Boss Guard as a Scav |
up to 0.05 (from 0.03) | Kill an AI Scav as a Scav |
To sum up, do good things to Scavs and don't do bad things to them. Sounds quite straightforward and it indeed is. On average it takes about 3 hours to raise 1.0 from 0 but you're not likely to have exactly 0 karma at the moment that you decide to start improving it, so apply this estimate respectively.
Complete all the prerequisite quests
There's a long list of quests that you need to complete before getting access to the dedicated unlocking questline for the Lightkeeper. To be more precise, there are 13 of them, here's the table containing them all:
# | QUEST | GIVEN BY | ZONE | LVL REQUIREMENT |
---|
1 | Broadcast – Part 2 | Mechanic | Streets | 15 |
2 | Bullshit | Skier | Customs | – |
3 | Cargo X – Part 4 | Peacekeeper | Lighthouse | – |
4 | Decontamination Service | Therapist | Interchange | – |
5 | Drug Trafficking | Therapist | Lighthouse | – |
6 | Gunsmith – Part 15 | Mechanic | various | 29 |
