Escape from Tarkov Arena: what is it?
You might've heard about Escape from Tarkov Arena already. What is it? Some people say that it's a mod for Escape from Tarkov, some people say that it's a sort of a sequel or something altogether different. Don't worry, we'll help you understand what it is fast and without any confusion. Read through this brief but informative article to learn more about this new game.
What is Arena?
Escape from Tarkov Arena is a multiplayer FPS from the developers of the original Escape from Tarkov. While the games share lots of similarities, it wouldn't be fair to call Arena a mere mod for the original game. It's a separate title that has its own focus and appeal.

What is its gameplay like?
As we've already said, EFT Arena is session first-person shooter that shares most of its gameplay mechanics with the regular Escape from Tarkov. However, unlike the regular EFT, in Arena you don't have to browse the open world and survive in it. You just have a lobby to jump straight to battle from.
The battles are multiplayer which means that you compete alongside several allied players against a similar-sized team of opponent players. The place where your skirmishes take place are numerous: several different parts of the city of Tarkov are used for that.

So simply put, it's the same Escape from Tarkov but with a hyper focus on combat without exploration and survival. So if you like the regular EFT and especially care about its combat sequences, the Arena is a perfect place for you to show your worth and fight against opponents all day and all night. And of course there will be a ladder for those who want an extra challenge and are ready to participate in raked matches.
When is it released?
The Beta has been already available for a while (from December 17 2023). The final version of the game, however, doesn't have a release date yet. Judging by how long it took the original EFT to finally get the release version, we'd say that it might take the Arena at least a year to do so too.
So far the beta is not open for everyone, unfortunately. If you want to try it out at this stage, you can pre-order the game and get access to the closed beta. Or just wait till it becomes available for everyone – but it's not clear if it will actually happen, so you better take the easier road and get your access with the pre-order.

Is it related to Escape from Tarkov in any way?
Of course. If you've played the usual EFT, you'll certainly have an advantage over players who haven't. The gameplay is very similar to the original Tarkov and your experience there will make your progress in the Arena much easier.
Besides the gameplay, the game is set in the same city of Tarkov with all the well-known locations and characters, and aesthetics in general. So if you're a fan of that universe – and it's a decent one for sure – you'll feel at home.
