Happy New Year! This is the last year of the first quarter of the twenty first century and it's quite an achievement for humanity to make it this far! It's also the twentieth year for World of Warcraft – just think of how grown up our favorite is already! Some players weren't even born when it got released. But it's too early to celebrate that since WoW's birthday is in November. So let's get back to the New Year theme and talk about vacations and presents. Vacations are usually associated with warm countries and pleasant pastimes. Blizzard took that idea to the extreme and gave us lots of desert-themed objects to choose from for this month's trading post. Let's take a closer look at what's in store!

Scarab mount
Item name: Copper resonating crystal
What is it: flying mount
Get it for: 800 Trader's tenders
We've had various bug-like mounts, the most famous of which was the brood of Ahn'Qiraj rideable insectoids. But this scarab beats them all in terms of how good it looks. This month we have numerous items related to the desert theme and this bug is certainly one of the highlights. The model is not unique, however, but it's been rarely seen: there's only one other mount that uses it and it's Telix the Stormhorn. The name doesn't ring a bell, does it? The reason for that is that you can only get it for a 12-month subscription which is not what the majority of players opt for. Telix is also blue, while this Jeweled Copper scarab has some sort of copper-ish color indeed. As well as purple for details.

What is it: a shield transmog (the off-hand slot)
Get it for: 400 Trader's tenders
If the scarab mount isn't enough for you as a scarab fan, here's another item of the same theme – a shield. Sure, not many classes use this kind of gear, but those that do, will look sharp with it for sure. If the list of your favorite environments includes Ahn'Qiraj, Ahn'Kahet, Azjol-Nerub, and the like, you really should not hesitate to spend 400 tenders on this piece.

Desert-themed armor set

Yeah, a third desert-themed entry in our list. However, this time it's not really something from the wardrobe of an insect fan. Quite on the contrary: you can easily imagine a person in such vestment to be a pest control enthusiast. It looks like some gear from Mad Max or Fallout. Most likely, it's a reference to the latter since it has the word "waste" in it and we all know what "wasteland" comes to mind for most gamers when they hear the word. The price on this set is quite high but it's 100% worth it as it looks stunning.
Troll-themed shield
Item name: Witch Doctor's fetish guard
What is it: a shield transmog (the off-hand slot)
Get it for: 400 Trader's tenders
Let's carry on with out warm-place vibe and take a look at a troll-themed shield. Granted, this thing doesn't seem like something that can protect you from relentless attacks of your enemies but it will definitely fit your troll's traditional outfit, if you have one. If you don't, this shield is still matchable with many different looks that include bones, feathers, and spikes.
What about non-cosmetic gear?

Yeah, a watch. We don't get wrist items like that often if at all. We haven't found mentions of other wristwatches that have been added to the game before this month, so we'd say that this is pretty unique. And it's given for free - you just need to complete enough activities to fill the progress bar.

Those 5 items are great for every player's collection but they are not the only ones worth your attention. For example, if you're into the Troll theme, there's another item of this style that's very similar in its looks to the aforementioned shield but that is worn on your back – it's a sorta cloak – "Witch Doctor's Fetish Frame". Desert lovers will find more desert-themed items that even have that word in their names like "Gossamer desert gown". Other highlights include an armored pterodactyl moutn, a salamander pet, a taurent totem back-item, and so many more!
