The latest WoW content patch "Embers of Neltharion" has lots of great content but, surprisingly, new mounts are less numerous than we're used to. This might seem like a sad thing but in fact that makes new mounts more valuable. And they are actually quite awesome so we'd definitely have a handful of great-looking mounts over a huge bunch of recolors and the like. In this blog post we've collected the best mounts of patch 10.1 – in our view, that is. You'll find top-5 mounts here as well as an honorable mention – all with images and videos!
Obsidian Gladiator's Slitherdrake
Source: PvP Arena
Description: This mount must be the hardest one to get on our list since it requires you to receive the gladiator title and achievement. If you've played the game for a while, you know that getting a glad is a true feat and not everyone will ever get it. But still, this mount is mesmerizing and it's definitely a crown jewel of this patch. If you're lucky and skilled enough to get it, you will also get similar customization options for your Dragon Isles' slitherdrake.

How to get: Reach Rank 7 with Loamm Niffen > Complete Briggul's quests > Reach Rank 5 with Glimmerogg Racer > Get the mount
Description: The underworld of the Zaralek Cavern is full of peculiar life forms. Stone snails are one of them and they are amazing! Luckily we even get a chance to add one of them to our stables and fortunately the color of this snail is pink! What could be more swag than that? To get it, you don't have to participate in any group activities. Just improve your reputation (renown) with the Niffen to level 7. Then talk to Briggul and do his quests: there are lots of them, both regular and daily ones. The quests will give you reputation points for a new mini-reputation "Glimmerogg Racer" that is only relevant to this quest line and has no other uses whatsoever. Reaching the max level with it will take you about 3 weeks. After you've maxed it out, Briggul will award you with this amazing pink snail mount!

Description: Lots of players were astonished when they first saw the Season 1 KSM reward. "This thing is ugly as hell and what even is it?" the community yelled. And well, they were right up to a point: the Hailstorm Armoredon looked like nothing you'd expect such a classy reward to be. Some kodo-based unattractive beast that has little relevance to the Dragonflight's theme at all. The inferno armoredon remains an armoredon – which is god only knows what is – but the new colors and effects it has make it a far more good-looking creature for sure. It has this Diablo vibe about it, we'd say, as it looks like a demon coming from the world of Sanctuary, except you can ride it. Granted, it's still a low-clearance floor-crawler that has some weird animations but the overall looks have improved drastically in the comparison to what we had in the previous season. So you might even want to consider it now, what do you think?

Description: Shalewings are sorta bats that you will encounter a lot in the Zaralek Cavern. You can purchase some shalewing mounts as reputation rewards (mostly related to the Niffen) yet the best color-option comes as a raid reward. The primal flames and some elemental themes are what define this mount's great looks. Getting it won't be easy as you'll have to complete several challenging achievements in the new raid – thankfully, you are supposed to do it in the Normal difficulty which is not too hard, but still.

Description: As it's usually the case, the first vicious mount of the season is a unique one that you can't get otherwise. So make sure to meet all the requirements to get this amazing snail to your collection! Yes, snails are numerous in the second season of Dragonflight but there are not too many decent snail mounts. We'd say that this War Snail (which is hilarious) and the Big Slick are basically the only ones worthy of your attention and effort. Armored snail is a great sight that will inspire your allies and discourage your enemies!

Honorable mention: Winding Slitherdrake
Source: Campaign
How to get: Complete the "Worst of the Worst" quest, part of the new campaign
Description: We added this Pandaria-inspired dragon as an honorable mention because it doesn't look great with its basic settings, in our view. Your 4 other Dragon Isles dragons must already have lots of customiation options and this one will come completely naked and boring. Of course, you will get lots of new options for it too shortly. But since we assess mounts for the looks that they come with, we'd say that this dragon's basic form is not much to write home about. However, it has lots of potential and you can discover genuinely awesome customization parts for it as you play on!
