How to level up Thieves Guild in Elder Scrolls Online?

Guild leveling in ESO isn't always easy and it's always good to know how to it the right way. In this brief guide we'll tell you all you need to know about leveling up Thieves Guild in Elder Scrolls Online.

What is Thieves Guild in ESO?

Thieves Guild is another NPC faction consisting from the most skilled outlaws of Tamriel and based in the city of Abah's Landing in Hew's Bane (Southern Hammerfall). Similarly to other guilds of the game, the Thieves have their own skill line that includes various skills that you can learn. In this case all those skills are passive.

The Thieves Guild also has lots of repeatable activities that you can get lovely rewards for. So dealing with this gang is also quite lucrative, if earning extra gold is one of your primary goals in Elder Scrolls Online.

One last thing to know is that these guys are a part of the premium content, so if you want to interact with them and level up their skill line, make sure to either purchase the dedicated DLC "Thieves Guild" or ESO Plus subscription.

Here's a brief introduction to the guild made by SeniorsLord:

What does its skill line include?

The Thieves Guild has 12 levels. Each level gives you either a new skill or a higher rank of an already known one. Here's the full list:

RANKSKILLINFO
1Finders KeepersOpen & loot Thieves Troves
2Swiftly Forgotten I-46 Bounty after 3 minutes. -36 Heat after 3 seconds
3Haggling I+2% money for selling items to a fence*
4ClemencyUse this ability once per day to avoid getting arrested by a guard as well as not having your stolen goods removed or your money taken. You'll also not be accosted by guards for 1 minute after you've used this skill
5Swiftly Forgotten II-69 Bounty after 3 minutes. -46 Heat after 3 seconds
6Haggling II+4% money for selling items to a fence
7Timely EscapeWhen you have Bounty set on you and are in combat, you have a chance to spot a Footpad in a town with a Refuge. Using it will instantly take you to the nearest Refuge
8Swiftly Forgotten III-92 Bounty after 3 minutes. -55 Heat after 3 seconds
9Haggling III+7% money for selling items to a fence
10Veil of Shadows-10% detection range of Witnesses & Guards. But it doesn't affect the range from which Guards can accost you
11Swiftly Forgotten IV-115 Bounty after 3 minutes. -64 Heat after 3 seconds
12Haggling IV+10% money for selling items to a fence
*fence = a vendor buying and laundering stolen items. Can be found in outlaw refuges.

So let's sum up. By reaching level 12 you improve your characters with all those skills in the following ways:

  • You now can open Thieves Troves;
  • You earn more money by selling stolen stuff to fences;
  • You lose Bounty and Heat sooner;
  • You become less detectable by guards;
  • You learn to get away with stolen stuff when caught by guards;
  • You learn to detect special portals taking you to a Refuge when you're on the run
Those bonuses might not seem like a lot but Thieves Troves are 100% worth it. They are full of goodies and gold. Also, it's a great thing to sell stolen items at better prices. Mind you that it only applies to selling stolen stuff, not laundering them!

Level up the Thieves Guild faster

If you want to reach the maximum level with this guild much sooner, you can always use our Thieves Guild boost in Elder Scrolls Online! Our pro player will speed up your progress and it will be very affordable!

Tip board

This board is unlocked after completing the Partners in Crime quest. You can do 1 unique tip daily but there are plenty of tips to do so it's not as limiting as it might seem. Tips are quite simple and include activities like pickpocketing, gathering particular items, unlocking safeboxes, and more things like that. Usually tips give you about 5 reputation points.

Heist board

You first need to complete The Long Game quest from the Thieves Guild's storyline. Heists are more complicated than tips: you'll need to do some sneaking, lockpicking, snatching items in broad daylight, and avoiding mortal traps. Unlike tips, you can accept and complete only 1 heist per day. The good news is that heists are shareable among players so if you have friends or guildmates that want to power level Thieves Guild too, you can help each other by sharing up to 5 heists. 5 is the total number of them in existence, so there's no way to complete more.

Regular completion of a single heist yields you 10 reputation points. But if you complete it in under 8 minutes, you'll double the gain: 20 points per just 1 heist.

Reacquisition board

This board also requires completing the Partners in Crime quest. The missions you can get there focus on recovering valuable items from certain targets around the city. Only 1 reacquisition task per day is allowed.
