Elder Scrolls Online has enough guilds to start wondering if you really need to max out your reputation with all of them. We'd say that while some guilds are really a bit niche and shouldn't be a priority for everyone, some other guilds, on the contrary, offer such great bonuses, that it wouldn't be smart to skip on them.
The Undaunted belong to the latter category. It's a very important guild for everyone who wants to enrich their skill set with the best team-focused abilities as well as great passives that will make your character better fit for every situation. In this blog post we'll tell you all you need to know about this guild! Let's go!
What's the point of leveling up the Undaunted guild?
The Undaunted is one of the most useful guilds in the game at the moment. Regardless of your preferences, your character will only win from getting to the max rank of reputation with them. There are 2 major advantages of doing so:
- Unlocking the Undaunted skill line's abilities
- Purchasing Monster Set shoulder pads
The skill line that this guild offers is really great and every character, no matter what its class and role are, will become a more valuable teammate with it. The Monster Set shoulder pieces are also great, especially if you focus on PvE content.
Every Monster Sets consist of just 2 parts: a helmet and shoulder pads. The former is obtained after defeating particular bosses in dungeons. The latter is purchased from the Undaunted vendors with their special currency: Undaunted keys. You can buy a particular shoulder piece for just 5 keys (while it's possible to earn up to 6 of them per day per character).
If you're feeling lucky, you can buy a mystery stash and get a random Monster Set shoulder piece from it – that would cost you just 1 key. And it's not just shoulder pads that you can get from the mystery stash – there's also a special time-limited style that you can get from it. You can also purchase it directly but it costs as many as 50 keys – that's way too many. Styles have a monthly rotation: so at the beginning of each new month one style goes and another comes. What skills does their skill line include?
The Undaunted's skill line has some of the finest spells that a guild can offer in Elder Scrolls Online. To be more precise, their spells are perfect for team-based activities like dungeons, trials, or PvP. And that's mainly thanks to the so-called synergy effects that make these spells more useful and versatile.
Here's how synergies work: when you cast an Undaunted spell, other players from your group get an opportunity to cast a synergy spell that appears on their screens at that moment. The synergy spell enhances the initial effect of the original spell in some way. We'll describe all the skill line's original skills as well as their related synergies in the table below:
LEVEL | SKILL | EFFECT | SYNERGY |
---|
1 | Blood Altar | Create a fountain applying Minor Lifesteal to enemies in the area, healing you & the allies for 600 HP every 1 sec. when damaging nearby enemies. | Blood Funnel: Heal for 40% of your Max Health. |
2 | Trapping Webs | Reduce the Movement Speed of enemies by 50% and deal Physical Damage to them. After 10 sec. the webs explode, dealing Poison Damage to nearby enemies. | Spawn Broodling: Deal Poison Damage and summon a spider to attack the target with Physical Damage for 10 sec.. |
3 | Inner Fire | Deal Flame Damage to an enemy and make them attack you for 15 sec.. | Radiate: Deal Flame Damage to an enemy over 3 sec., then deal more Flame Damage at once to them & nearby enemies. |
4 | Bone Shield | Activate a shield absorbing damage for 6 sec.. The max damage absorbed scales off your Max Health. | Bone Wall: Get a shield equal to 30% of your Max Health for 6 sec.. 5 more allies near you get it too. |
5 | Necrotic Orb | Launch a sphere that slowly moves forward for 10 sec. dealing Magic Damage every 1 sec. to nearby enemies. | Combustion: Make the sphere explode, dealing Magic Damage to nearby enemies and restoring Magicka or Stamina (whichever's max is higher) to you. |
6 | Undaunted Command I | Passive. Restore 2% of your max Health, Stamina, & Magicka upon activating a synergy. | Passive skills have no synergies. |
7 | Undaunted Mettle I | Passive. +1% max Health, Stamina, & Magicka per type of Armor that you've equipped. Types of armor are: Light, Medium, Heavy. | Passive skills have no synergies. |
8 | Undaunted Command II | Passive. Restore 4% of your max Health, Stamina, & Magicka upon activating a synergy. | Passive skills have no synergies. |
9 | Undaunted Mettle II | Passive. +2% max Health, Stamina, & Magicka per type of Armor that you've equipped. Types of armor are: Light, Medium, Heavy. | Passive skills have no synergies. |
So as you can see, this skill set can make you a much more versatile and sought-after team player. If several players on your team have those skills, imagine how easy it would be to make use of all those cool synergies! And as for the passives, they are a hard must in most endgame builds, so having them is also quite desirable. Here's also a short showcase of all those skills by Jonlaw98 (most things have remained the same despite the video came out 9 years ago):

How do I level up the Undaunted guild?
First of all, let's see what ground you'll have to cover during the leveling process. The Undaunted guild has 10 ranks but the highest one doesn't give you anything, so focus on reaching the 9th. Here's how much experience you're going to need to level them up:
RANK | REPUATTION REQUIRED FOR THE NEXT ONE | TOTAL REPUTATION FOR THIS RANK |
---|
1 | 50 | 0 |
2 | 100 | 50 |
3 | 150 | 150 |
4 | 200 | 300 |
5 | 200 | 500 |
6 | 200 | 700 |
7 | 200 | 900 |
8 | 200 | 1100 |
9 | 200 | 1300 |
10 | - | 1500 |
Basically, 1'300 experience is what you'll need to accumulate in total. Mind you that this experience isn't the same as your champion's experience, so just doing any quests and slaying any mobs won't take you closer to your goal. Instead you'll need to do specific quests and activities related to the Undaunted. Let's see what they are:
- Undaunted-related story quests
- Delve Dailies
- Pledges
You can also level it up with Crowns!
Just like with most other guilds, it's possible to max out the Undaunted with crowns in the in-game's cash shop. It can save you lots of time, if speed is of the essence to you, but you'll have to pay extra for that. If you want to save money on Crowns, you can always order them with our affordable ESO Crown delivery boost!
Undaunted-related story quests
This category is a motley mixture. It includes the initial quest that unlocks the skill line and makes you a member of the guild – One of the Undaunted. It's a simple quest that you can take as soon as upon reaching level 10. We'd recommend you do exactly then, if you can. It's very easy: you need to go to the starting town of your Alliance, enter the tavern, locate a crowd of loudly speaking people, take the quest, go to the local dungeon's entrance, then come back to the tavern (without completing the dungeon! You don't have to do it even though you can, if you want), and turn in the quest thus becoming a member of the guild. Take a look at what this quest looks like in this video by Lucky Ghost:
Other story-related quests are more difficult to complete. They require you to complete a dungeon or a trial. Such quests reward you with 25 reputation for completing a Dungeon, 50 reputation for completing a Normal Trial, and 100 reputation for completing a Veteran Trial. So that's just 2 dungeons to go from level 1 to 2 (50 rep).
There are low-key quests in the form of achievements. The most well-known example is This One's On Me which requires you to buy beer for members of the Undaunted at 16 different locations. Earning this achievement will get you 30 reputation points.
Daily Delves
You can get one daily delve quest from Bolgrul, an Undaunted officer that you can find in the Undaunted Enclave in every Alliance capital. This type of quests is focused on sending you to various delves. While you can only take 1 such quest per day per character, there's an interesting workaround. These dailies can be shared and that means that you can have up to 15 unique daily Delve quests with your characters if you find enough kind people to share theirs with you. Each daily Delve quest returns 10 reputation points which might not be a lot but at least it won't take you long to complete the quest.
Pledges
Pledges are daily quests taking you to dungeons. They are the most lucrative activities in terms of yield of reputation points but the catch is that you can only start taking them after reaching level 45. Once you become eligible for Pledges, you can take up to 3 of them per day (you'll find the quest givers in any of Alliance capitals' Undaunted Enclaves).
Unlike daily Delve quests, they can't be shared, so 3 is the maximum number of Pledges you can do within one day with one character. But that's not that bad since you get more reputation points for completing one pledge: 25 for a Normal dungeon, 50 for a Veteran dungeon, and 100 for a Veteran Hard Mode dungeon.
If you want to reach the highest rank with the Undaunted as soon as possible, miss not a single opportunity to do a Pledge. That means you need to do all 3 of them daily. And the higher is the difficulty you can do them at, the better. If you have a reliable team that you can complete dungeons at the Veteran Hard Mode difficulty, you're in great luck.
Completing a Pledge also rewards you with 1 Undaunted Key. Doing so at the Veteran Hard Mode difficulty, doubles that. You can use these keys to buy Monster Set shoulder pieces we've mentioned above. So yes, Pledges are definitely the best part of doing business with this guild.
Take a look at what Pledges look like in this brief video by ArzyeL Gaming:
Best ways to level up
Let's compare the reputation points gains you from all those activities:
ACTIVITY | TYPE | GAIN |
---|
Daily Delve quest | Repeatable | 10 |
Dungeon story quest | Once per character | 25 |
Normal Pledge | Repeatable | 25 |
Veteran Pledge | Repeatable | 50 |
Normal Trial story quest | Once per character | 50 |
Veteran Trial story quest | Once per character | 100 |
Veteran Hard Mode Pledge | Repeatable | 100 |
So it's plain to see that Pledges give you the widest scope of yields and are best for leveling up the reputation with the Undaunted. However, all other activities shouldn't be disregarded. You can earn up to 150 reputation per day with daily Delve quests, so you should use that opportunity too, since there's only so many reputation points you can obtain with Pledges. Doing story quests is also important, so try to complete as many of them as possible.
