How to Level Up Fast in Rainbow Six Siege X – Brief guide

So you've been wondering how to level up fast in R6 and searching for a good explainer – but the web seemed surprisingly unhelpful. Many guides and discussions out there are focused on the outdated leveling system – the one before the Siege X release in 2025 – so now they are pretty much useless. We've decided to gather all the knowledge we had about the current leveling system and put it into a nice, detailed guide for you to enjoy.

So here it is – you'll learn how leveling works, what rewards you get for progressing, and how you make that progress more efficiently. Let's start by looking under the hood – how is it all designed to run?

🤔 How does leveling work in Rainbow Six Siege X?

First, what's the proper way to call the levels? Their official name is Clearance Level, and that's what you'll see in the game most of the time. The most common shortening for that is CL, not Lvl – so we'll use CL.

How do you level up? ☝️

Up to CL 100, each level requires more experience than the one before. That makes sense, since it reflects your gradual growth as a Rainbow Six player.

After you hit 100, each level takes the same amount of XP. And this is the biggest leveling change in Siege X. Previously, the requirements kept growing steeply. At some point it became almost impossible to level up, so you could get stuck on one level for weeks or even months.

The devs decided that it made no sense and wasn't fun. So they switched to an approach that's more user-friendly and rewarding. We'd say, a good call.

What isn't a good call is not disclosing the exact amount of XP needed per level after 100. The community's best guess is that it's around 45,000. But the devs have been inexplicably reluctant to share the exact figure. Strange as it is, it won't make much difference if you focus on the quickest way to level up in Siege.

What was it like before? ⬅️

Here's a short story. When Siege X just got released, many players had their levels multiplied several times overnight. Those who were above 100 CL ended up jumping to 1000, 2000, or even 3000. The reason was the new approach to calculating levels.

What didn't change was the total amount of XP on their accounts. Imagine you were level 102 – and those two levels past 100 took you painfully long to earn, maybe around 450,000 XP. After the update, those same 450,000 XP gave you not two but ten levels, which is why you suddenly became CL 110.

🎁 What rewards do you get for leveling up?

We're lucky to be playing Rainbow Six Siege now, when it's much more generous about giving out leveling rewards. If you're just starting out, you're going to love it – newcomers now get lots of freebies. Gone are the days when the only rewards you could get were access to the Unranked and Ranked modes.

Rewards are important, since they can give you enough motivation to turn any method into the fastest way to level up in Rainbow Six Siege. So let's see what you can get.

The first 20 levels are full of rewards 🐣

Most levels up to 20 reward you with something new. Here's the list of what you get at different CLs:

  • 2 – Enlisted mode, Attack & Defense tutorials
  • 3 – Quick Match mode, Shooting Range practice
  • 5 – Dual Front mode, Landmark Drill mode
  • 7 – Deathmatch mode
  • 8 – Iana operator
  • 10 – Target Drill practice
  • 12 – Alpha Pack
  • 14 – Kaid operator
  • 16 – Finka operator
  • 18 – Thorn operator, Field Training practice
  • 20 – Unranked mode, Operator Specialties practice
As you go through the early levels of R6, you get to try most of its modes one step at a time. You also get four free operators, a great start for building your roster.

Ranked still requires level 50 🔫

What hasn't changed is that Ranked becomes available at CL 50. Time-wise, it takes about the same to reach it as before the Siege X update. So you'll have lots of practice before being able to see how you fare against the global playerbase.

Note that CL isn't the only requirement to start a Ranked game. You also need to have 10 Attacker operators and 10 Defender ones. The four free operators you get by level 18 are very useful in this regard – but you'll have to get the remaining 16 characters yourself.

And there are two more requirements. The Ranked mode is only available to paid players – so the F2P players are limited to Unranked and Quick Matches. And you need to have a phone number connected to your Ubisoft account – a measure against cheaters, bots, and scammers.

Safe Ranked carries 💪

Already hit level 50 and need help climbing the ranks? That's easy – easy for our pros, that is. ArmadaBoost's Rank boost in R6S can help you get to any rank fast – from Copper all the way up to Champion. Our professional players will do it safely and quickly – all without bleeding your wallet dry!

Even more rewards 🤩

The rewards don't end there. Each level up gives you 10,000 Renown – the currency you use to buy operators and customizations. That's not bad – sometimes one level up is enough to buy a new character, though usually an older one. The latest operators usually cost 25,000 – so it takes about three level-ups to unlock one. However, don't forget that you also get Renown for winning games, so you shouldn't rely on just level-ups to collect it.

Another great reward is Alpha Packs. You get 10 of them every 10 levels. They contain cosmetic items. They don't affect your performance, but they do make you look more stylish – which is also a great upgrade!

☄️ How do you level up fast in R6S?

Now, to the most important question – how to level up fast in Siege? There's no single simple guideline to follow – instead, there are a few useful tips to consider. Stick to these five best practices and your CL will grow much faster.

1. Quick Match over Unranked ⚡️

Unranked isn't a bad mode per se – it has plenty of advantages and it prepares you for Ranked games much better than anything else. But when it comes to farming XP, few things beat Quick Match. These matches are 4-5 rounds long, with each round capped at 3 minutes – this makes them much more action-packed than Unranked games.

More action = more kills, more interactions, and more objectives per minute. After all, winning games isn't the only source of XP – all the things mentioned above give it too.

2. Some operators earn more XP 💪

If you want more XP per game, you need operators who can deliver on that. Think of characters with lots of team interactions or useful gadgets – both can increase your experience yield. Here are examples of such operators among attackers:

  • Ash
  • Thermite
  • Sledge
  • Zofia
  • Finka
And among defenders:

  • Rook
  • Doc
  • Mute
  • Castle
  • Warden
Here's an example of what we mean by useful interactions: Doc gets about 50-150 XP per heal. Supporting your team during a particularly intense match can noticeably raise your total experience gain by the end of it. So don't only focus on characters good at delivering kills – interactions and objectives matter just as much, if not more.

3. Use XP boosters ☕️

Before you say you're not a fan of buying things from the game's cash shop, let us tell you that you can actually get XP boosters for free. Check out the Ubisoft Connect feature – it lets you tie your Ubisoft account with other platforms and earn free bonuses. Quite often, those bonuses include XP boosters – try linking your Amazon Prime account as is it usually rewards them. The terms of these promo offers change regularly, so make sure to look for up-to-date info.

Also, note that when one player on the team activates an XP booster, everyone else on the team gets the effect too. So if there's someone with an active booster you can join – how about a teammate from a previous match? – team up for bonus XP.

4. Complete extra objectives 📍

Some players completely disregard their Battle Pass Challenges as well as Daily and Weekly Objectives. You shouldn't – they often yield loads of experience and make raising your CL much easier. Focus on the ones that are relatively easy to complete – that's the best way to level up in Siege through extra objectives.

If the tasks are difficult or time-consuming, don't go out of your way trying to complete them. Most likely you'll just waste time and hinder your progress.

5. Play with a team 🤝

Gather a full team of players you've seen in action. You probably have a good idea of what their skill level is, which helps you divide responsibilities more effectively in every match. Besides, you'll almost certainly use voice communication, which will help you complete objectives effectively, land more kills, and do XP-gaining interactions at the right time. Ultimately, that'll raise your chances of winning many games one after another – and at the end of the day, that's the fastest way to level up in R6.

Remember that XP boosters apply to all team members? Make use of that too: have at least one ready for your squad and use it before the play session. What's more, XP boosters stack. That means your bonus will be twice as strong if two team members activate it – and you can take it all the way to 5x.

Leveling up with a team sounds like a beautiful dream and you might think that it's the perfect answer to how to level up fast in Rainbow Six Siege. But be smart about this approach. Sometimes you have a great team that you're comfortable playing with – but it's not always available. Or your team might just not be that good and you lose more than you win. If you're focused on finding the fastest way to level up in Siege, you shouldn't keep just any company – it has to be good. If it's not, you might be better off playing solo. Let's put it this way: a team isn't required, but it can sometimes be an advantage.
