Best KORD BREACH Personal Modifiers in Tarkov

For KORD BREACH Season 1, the best Personal Modifiers are Prodigy for long-term skill growth, Safecracker for repeated key runs, and Bushborne for fights around vegetation. Each one has to be funded by drawbacks you can actually manage, so start small for casual play.

A build full of bonuses looks tempting, but the negative modifiers pay for every one of them. Before copying a popular setup, check whether its medical costs, movement penalties, or trading restrictions fit the way you actually play.

This guide covers the point system, casual builds, progression choices, PvP trade-offs, which negative modifiers are manageable, and a reusable planner. The presets are reasoned recommendations, not results from controlled raid tests.

Reviewed 17 September 2026 against patch 1.1.5.1. Costs below use post-launch community tables, not July preview values. Check the current character-creation screen before committing, especially after a patch.

Run Season 1 without rebuilding a stash 🚀

A seasonal character starts from zero while your permanent profiles stay exactly as you left them. If you want the seasonal progress without grinding it back by hand, our Escape from Tarkov services cover raids, quests and progression, run by a booster on your account. Every boost is played manually by an experienced player, with no prohibited software or cheats, and your permanent profiles are left untouched.

⚙️ How do KORD BREACH Personal Modifiers work?

Personal Modifiers change your seasonal character through selected benefits and drawbacks. Positive modifiers spend points. Negative modifiers provide points. Your final balance must be zero or higher, and you can choose no personal modifiers.

Reading the plus and minus signs

The signs can look backwards. A useful bonus has a minus sign because it costs points. A drawback has a plus sign because it funds your build.

For example, a -3 bonus needs at least +3 from negatives. Taking +4 would also satisfy the budget. Hitting exactly zero is efficient, but it is not a reason to take another drawback you do not want.

Battlestate Games developer Sam states the rule as "0 points or higher" in the official seasonal-modifier preview. The preview also warns that values could change before launch. That is why an old screenshot is a poor shopping list.

What changes if you choose no modifiers?

You avoid personal drawbacks, but the season's global modifiers still apply. These are separate systems. The global rules cover conditions such as insurance, crafting, and raid experience. Personal selections do not turn them off.

For the wider mode and progression rules, use the KORD BREACH Season 1 guide. This page focuses on building your seasonal character, not your permanent PvP or PvE character.

🎯 Which modifiers are best for a casual player?

Taking no personal modifiers is the simplest casual option. For a small mobility package, consider Marathon Runner funded by Well That Hurt! and Third Leg. This avoids random allergies, trading restrictions, and a large collection of debuffs.

Low-friction preset: start with one benefit

Marathon Runner reduces arm and leg stamina consumption by 20%. Third Leg reduces movement speed by 1% but makes Therapist purchases 5% cheaper, while Well That Hurt! increases medkit resource consumption by 25%. These values appear in BaskMedia's post-launch modifier list.

Selection

Points

Practical consequence

Marathon Runner

-3

Lower stamina drain

Well That Hurt!

+2

Medkits run out 25% faster

Third Leg

+1

1% slower movement, 5% cheaper at Therapist

Total

0

Balanced at 0 points

Choose this package for sustained movement, not maximum speed. Stamina consumption and movement speed are different attributes. One does not erase the other.

The costs here are predictable, so you can plan for them. The medkit cost is the real constraint: a nearly empty medkit is less forgiving. Third Leg's 1% speed loss is negligible by comparison, and it even makes Therapist purchases 5% cheaper, which is close to a free point. Keep your route simple while learning how the package feels.

Is Average better for short sessions?

Average costs 12 points and sets character skills to level 25, with no further leveling except Crafting. Hercules costs 5 points and starts Strength and Endurance at level 15. Prodigy costs 5 points and increases skill experience by 30%. The TarkovForge launch-value table lists these post-launch values.

Average offers broad immediate skill levels. Hercules offers a narrower head start. Prodigy rewards continued skill training. That difference matters more than a generic tier label.

Average is worth considering if your season usually ends before your skills would reach level 25 on their own. Its funding burden is substantial, though. Fund Average only with negatives you would have taken anyway, whatever a short-session recommendation calls mandatory.

Check your own previous character. A player who enjoys pushing skill levels past 25 rejects Average for a different reason than a player who simply dislikes its required negatives.

Every modifier named in this guide

Here is the full budget in one place, with each value signed the way the character-creation screen prints it. Bonuses carry a minus sign because they spend points; drawbacks carry a plus sign because they fund the build. A 12-point pick such as Average or Kappa Protocol takes more than one drawback to fund. The largest single return in the table is +10, from No Flea Market or Incompetent, so it has to be paired with something further, such as Broken Secure Container at +6. Check the character screen before you commit, because some of those pairings are blocked outright. Stacking every light drawback in the table does reach +13, enough on paper, but that means carrying seven separate penalties at once; the presets in this guide use two or three of them.

📈 Which modifiers help leveling and quests?

Prodigy suits skill progression, while Safecracker suits repeated mechanical-key use. Neither is a blanket promise of faster quest completion. Pick the benefit that addresses your actual bottleneck, then fund it with drawbacks your route and supplies can support.

Skill-XP preset: Prodigy without extra clutter

Prodigy affects skill experience, not a stated multiplier to every quest reward or your PMC level. Keep those XP systems separate. More skill XP does not automatically mean 30% faster overall progression.

A compact example is Prodigy (-5), Osteoporosis (+3), and Well That Hurt! (+2). The balance is zero. This funds one progression benefit rather than adding mobility bonuses and several more negatives.

The cost is injury management. Osteoporosis increases fracture chance by 25% and fall damage by 20%, according to TarkovKit's KORD BREACH table. Bring fracture treatment, avoid unnecessary drops, and plan routes you can complete while injured.

This is a conditional recommendation. Skip it if repeated falls or heavy medical use already end your raids. A bonus that encourages another failed run can be a poor use of limited evening playtime.

Quest preset: Safecracker for key-heavy routes

Safecracker costs 5 points and gives a 25% chance that a mechanical-key use does not consume durability. That is a chance per use, not a guaranteed free opening every fourth time. The values are shown on the in-game character-creation screen and in the TarkovForge launch-value table.

For a key-focused alternative, replace Prodigy with Safecracker in the five-point preset. Keep Osteoporosis and Well That Hurt! only if their injury costs fit your route. The point balance remains zero.

Safecracker is relevant when you repeatedly use valuable mechanical keys. It does not find the key, finish the task, or protect you inside the room. Skip it when your next objectives involve ordinary extracts, open locations, or items you still need to find.

Survival matters more than a theoretical XP route

Judge your build against completed objectives. Write down the next task, required supplies, and extraction plan before choosing a progression perk.

Patch 1.1.5.0 changed transit XP scaling and reduced XP from several Icebreaker and Labyrinth enemies. The official 8 September patch notes describe those changes. An older farming route may no longer justify the sacrifices in an XP-focused build.

Start with a manageable package and a clear objective rather than waiting for a perfect spreadsheet. What actually helps is finishing the raids you have time to play.

Keep seasonal progress moving on the days you cannot play 📅

Raid time, not modifier choice, is usually what stalls a seasonal run. Our EFT documentation farm keeps that progress moving while you are away, so the build you planned above is ready to use when you get back. Orders normally start within 30 minutes of purchase. The run is played manually by an experienced booster, with no prohibited software or cheats, and you can change your password the moment it ends.

⚔️ Which modifiers suit PvP-focused players?

Bushborne suits combat routes through vegetation. Marathon Runner suits sustained movement and arm and leg stamina drain. Sprinter costs 3 points and increases running speed by 5%. Choose around your usual terrain and engagements, not an assumption that every mobility bonus can be stacked.

Combat preset: a map-specific advantage

Bushborne costs 5 points. Its description says moving through vegetation generates 75% less noise and slows you down less; it does not make all movement silent. The TarkovProject modifier simulator records that effect.

One example is Bushborne (-5), Polydipsia (+2), Well That Hurt! (+2), and Third Leg (+1). The balance is zero. You gain a vegetation benefit while accepting hydration, medical, and speed costs.

Consider that package for routes where vegetation affects your approach or repositioning. Indoor fights give Bushborne fewer opportunities to matter. Map fit comes first.

Economy cost and risk profile

Polydipsia increases hydration consumption by 15%. Budget the extra drink before entering the raid, rather than assuming convenient loot will solve it. Extra medical use also consumes money and inventory space.

A PvP package still needs suitable ammo, cover, and an exit route. None of these modifiers guarantees a kill. Evaluate whether the benefit helps the fights you actually take, including the retreat afterward.

Kappa Protocol costs 12 points and immediately provides the Kappa secure container. Its storage benefit can appeal to players starting with a smaller container, but storage is not a direct combat bonus. Compare the required negatives with what you want to protect before paying that much of your build budget. If raid hours rather than the modifier list are the real bottleneck, our Escape from Tarkov boosting services can run the seasonal raids and quests while the build you planned stays exactly as it is.

⚠️ Which negative modifiers are manageable?

Manageable negatives have costs you can predict and support. Medical consumption and hydration penalties are easier to plan around than unknown allergies, but they still affect preparation. Trading and skill restrictions deserve a separate challenge-run decision.

Match the downside to your map and team

Use this checklist before adding points:

  • Check your route for falls before taking Osteoporosis.
  • Check your drink supply before taking Polydipsia.
  • Before taking Well That Hurt!, check your medkit capacity.
  • Third Leg is the cheapest point in the list, so take it before harsher drawbacks.

A teammate carrying spare supplies can help. Build around your own reliable kit first, though. A squad plan stops helping when you separate or your teammate extracts early.

The developer preview describes "meaningful drawbacks" for a reason. Battlestate's explanation supports treating negatives as part of the character, not free points to ignore after creation.

Hidden costs: Allergic and Dr. Jekyll

Allergic can affect routine consumables. In a post-launch Reddit discussion, players reported allergies involving water bottles and Propital. These are individual reports, not a complete allergy list or a probability estimate.

Some players suggest checking their usual consumables in a practice raid. Treat that as a community testing tip, not an official guarantee. Test the items you depend on before trusting an unfamiliar loadout in a task run.

Dr. Jekyll also deserves care. Dr. Jekyll means that once you pick up the Fresh Wound status, it cannot be removed until the raid ends. The September patch notes list a fix for the excessive bleeding that reopened while that status and Dr. Jekyll were active. A bug fix does not mean the underlying drawback disappears. Avoid older advice that labels the modifier harmless without discussing wound management.

Keep hardcore restrictions out of a casual build

No Flea Market removes player trading through the flea market. Choose it because you want that acquisition challenge. It can complicate buying missing parts and supplies, even when the point reward looks attractive.

Broken Secure Container limits what the container accepts. Incompetent slows skill development and imposes caps; check its in-game description for the exact exceptions before you take it. Neither belongs in a general recommendation for faster, easier progression.

Lucky and Unlucky have vague descriptions. Do not budget around a claimed loot, jam, or surgery benefit that has not been established. A clear downside is easier to assess than an imagined upside.

🧮 How should you use the modifier planner?

Choose your objective, add one useful bonus, and fund it with acceptable negatives. Calculate the point balance, check for conflicts, and copy the finished build into a short card. Validate the selections in the game before creating the character.

Point balance and incompatible modifiers

Use this calculation: add the signed value of every modifier you have selected, with bonuses carrying a minus sign and drawbacks a plus sign. A result below zero fails the budget check. A nonnegative result still needs a compatibility check.

The community selector's published conflict list includes these examples. These are combinations the game refuses outright, published as official exclusions:

Pair

Planning consequence

Average + Prodigy

Locked skills cancel this growth bonus

Average + Hercules

Choose broad fixed skills or the narrower head start

Prodigy + Incompetent

A skill restriction cannot fund skill growth

Marathon Runner + Sprinter

Choose stamina consumption or running speed

Sprinter + Third Leg

Do not assume opposing speed modifiers cancel

This is a community-maintained reference, not an official live validator. Each preset above avoids those listed pairs. The character screen remains the final check for which combinations the game actually blocks, and for additional or changed exclusions.

If you would rather have someone check the balance and the conflicts with you, book a build review with an ArmadaBoost EFT coach before you lock the character in.

Community calculators handle the arithmetic and produce shareable build URLs, but check their data before you trust a total. The tarkov-modifier-calc repository has not been updated since 11 July 2026, three weeks before the August launch patch: it still prices Kappa Protocol at 21 points and Safecracker at 6, and it has no entry for Prodigy, Lucky or Unlucky. Treat the character-creation screen as the live reference.

Can you change personal modifiers later?

Not in the way most people mean. There is no respec. The Expansion Hub sells a seasonal character reset, listed at 100 TarCoins when this was written, but a reset clears your level, stash, hideout and tasks as well, not just your modifiers. Confirm the price on your own store page before you count on it, and do not choose a painful setup on the assumption that a cheap do-over will always be there. Older reset instructions are not a substitute for what your account currently offers.

For a video companion, see Pestily's GUIDE on PERSONAL MODIFIERS. Compare any on-screen values with the current client before copying a build.

For the quests and map knowledge that support your choices, browse the Escape from Tarkov guides and quest help. Keep the modifier card beside your next objective, not beside a long list of bonuses you may never use.

💬 Want feedback on your build?

Ask for feedback on the full package: your goal, maps, modifiers, and usual kit. That gives a coach something specific to assess, such as whether a hydration penalty fits your route or a key-saving bonus matches your tasks.

Coaching is advice rather than a played run: you talk the build through with a coach over voice chat. Bring your preset card and one objective you want to work on next, and a coach can check your point balance, map plan and conflicts before you lock the character in.
