What are ranks in Overwatch 2?
Just like most other modern competitive MMO games, Overwatch 2 has developed a comprehensive system of ranks. The better your rating is, the higher your rank is – it's all quite intuitive. Naturally, you achieve high rating with outstanding performance as getting rating points requires winning games. Those players that make noticeably more wins than losses, get to the highest ranks of Overwatch 2's ladder. Simply put, your rank shows how cool a player you are. It's the best way to demonstrate that to others as well as a parameter used by the game's match making system. You would like to play against players of relatively similar skill level and experience, wouldn't you? Ranks make that happen.
What ranks are there in Overwatch 2?
There are 8 leagues in Overwatch 2, most of which (except one) are divided into 5 divisions. Here's the full list (lowest to highest):
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Master
- Grandmaster
- Top 500
Top 500 is the only league without divisions but, we suppose, it's easy to see why that's the case. It's just a list of the best 500 players of your region and there's literally no need to divide that into some smaller chunks. Needless to say, it's the classiest company to be in – but it's also the hardest one to get in.
Which is the lowest cool rank?
It's hard to say if there's a thing like that. Most players we know would say that gold is the first decent league but, of course, that's not something a grandmaster player would say. The reason for this sentiment is the rank distribution among the player base. The biggest share of OW2 players belong to the gold league. Then goes Platinum, it's followed by Silver. Surprisingly, Diamond has more players than Bronze. Master and grandmaster expectedly have low numbers. And top-500 is just 500 players per region so it's the smallest share of them all.
Based on that info, we'd say that gold and diamond are good enough to stay there. That doesn't mean that silver and bronze are only for losers – if you're new to the game, it's okay to be there. Even if you're not and you just play in your comfortable pace and enjoy the game in your current league as it is – you shouldn't care about what people say.
