Why would a person even consider getting help with leveling up skills? Such a question can surely come from a person who hasn't had lots of experience with the process of raising skills. That's a tedious thing to do. The higher is your skill level, the more experience you need to reach the next one. And some skills require some particularly tiresome actions to collect that precious XP. So it's always your choice: to keep on grinding that experience on your own and waste hours of your life, or just ask someone else to do that for you and simply get the result you need without suffering. What are skills in OSRS?

Skills are your character's stats. Unlike many other RPGs and MMORPGs, Runescape doesn't make distinction between combat and non-combat stats – they are all called skills. Obviously, they work in different ways, but the word for them all is one. You progress each of your skills by doing particular activities or collecting particular items (as it's usually the case with combat ones).

What types of skills are there?

Since there are so many skills in the game, it would be strange if they didn't have any categories. Currently players distinguish 4 categories of them:

Combat	Attack Defence Hit Points (Health) Magic Prayer Ranged Strength	You use these skills in combat. Some of them affect your damage, some – your defence, while some others also impact your accuracy and some bonus effects.
Gathering	Farming Fishing Hunter Mining Woodcutting	These skills let you collect raw materials from the environment and either use them for further production or consuming them raw, or just selling them.
Production	Cooking Crafting Fletching Herblore Runecrafting Smithing	These skills are the pinnacle of their respective production line, hence they require those raw materials that you've collected with your gathering skills or purchased from someone who did.
Utility	Agility Construction Firemaking Slayer Thieving	There's no one feature that unites these skills except the fact that they don't belong to other categories. All of them are useful, however, and can help your character get advantage either with combat, or with other trades, or with movement.

So as you can see there are 23 major skills that players care about most. All of them are important in their own right but you can choose just several of them to master – there's nothing wrong about that. Note, however, that some skills are members-only, hence if you play the free version of the game, you won't have access to them.

Even if you choose just a handful of skills to progress with, don't expect it to be an easy ride though. Achieving high levels is truly an achievement on its own so you better have lots of spare time and patience for that. Or you can just let pros do that for you – we already know how to handle things like that and it won't be a problem to us to get your skill to any level you wish.
