WHAT DOES THE "EXTRA LOOT" OPTION DO?

The extra loot option adds 2 or more (depends on available teams) players of your armor type to the party. We do that to increase your CHANCES of getting more loot.

Please note that it's NOT a loot guarantee: the more players of your armor type there are on the team, the higher is the chance for the party to get more items of that armor type. However, it doesn't mean that you will 100% get more items. It's a solid chance increase but just that.
