What is Pest Control boost in OSRS?

Pest Control boost in OSRS is a great way to reduce the required amount of time and effort for collecting lots of Commendation points. While Pest Control is a fun game mode, it can get quite tedious when you use it for grinding the related rewards. The Void set is a dream of many but there's so much action in the way. Not everyone can be dedicated enough to go through it and accompany the Void Knight so many times!

But even if you're short on time or just don't care about stomping the freak insects that are your nemeses in the Pest Control minigame, you shouldn't give up on the dream to get the Void set. It's a powerful collection of items and an incredible power-up for everyone so by no means you should just decide that you're not worthy of having it. What is Pest Control in Oldschool Runescape?

Pest Control is one of many Runescape minigames. It's a team-based and co-op activity (hence no killing of each other by players, and also member-only which means that's it's a sorta premium content. The main goal of your team is to protect your NPC guy (void knight) from hordes of pests and destroying the wormholes that they keep running out from. The number of players on your pest eliminators team can vary from as low as 5 to as many as 25.

That Void Knight fellow is not very fast, smart, and agile, so you'll have to put up with his dumb ways for at least 20 minutes. That's the exact amount of time that you have to protect him from various horrors and banes. However, you don't have to spend that much time to hang around your new friend – you can end the game faster by rapidly crushing 4 portals that insects jump out from. But be careful since while you're busy hitting one portal pests from other portals will keep harassing the Void Knight and if he dies all your effort will be in vain so make sure to take a look back at him every once in a while.

The minigame has an activity meter that assesses your contribution to the team effort: that is, whether you just stand in one place or slay insectoids like there's no tomorrow. The higher your average activity is, the more rewards you can expect at the end of it. The "rewards" are usually commendation points which are not exactly rewards by themselves, they are more like a currency that can be used to purchase some valuable items.
