What are Iron Banner ranks?
Iron Banner ranks (also known as Saladin ranks) are an indicator of your proficiency in this Crucible mode. The more you play (and win!), the better your rank is. The process of increasing your rank is straightforward: you literally just need wins to do that. After winning a game, you get a particular amount of points (it's not always easy to predict the exact one though) and it's added to your current one. When you reach a certain threshold, you get promoted to the next rank. Iron Banner ranks are also known as Saladin ranks because Saladin is the vendor of related rewards and as it's usually the case in Destiny 2, the whole system can get a popular name based on that.
What ranks are there?
There are 16 ranks total divided into 6 rank groups (sort of leagues). Those 6 rank groups are: Guardian, Brave, Heroic, Fabled, Mythic, and Legend. Each rank has its own points threshold. Here's the full list:
- Guardian I – Pts: 0-49
- Guardian II – Pts: 50-124
- Guardian III – Pts: 125-249
- Brave I – Pts: 250-499
- Brave II – Pts: 500-949
- Brave III – Pts: 950-1549
- Heroic I – Pts: 1550-1924
- Heroic II – Pts: 1925-2524
- Heroic III – Pts: 2525-3349
- Fabled I – Pts: 3350-3874
- Fabled II – Pts: 3875-4649
- Fabled III – Pts: 4650-5699
- Mythic I – Pts: 5700-6449
- Mythic II – Pts: 6450-7524
- Mythic III – Pts: 7525-8999
- Legend – Pts: 9000-10000
As you can see, they all span various amount of points. So it will take you more time to reach every new rank than the previous one.
What are these ranks good for?
The Iron Banner has rewards that are directly related to ranking up and they are special Iron Banner engrams. You can also get particular weapons for raising your rank and that includes Pressurized Precision, Swarm of the Raven, Dark Decider, Bite of the Fox, Brazen Wolf, and more. Reaching Rank 16 for the first time also yields you an Ascendant Shard. After you've reached the maximum rank (which is 16), you can reset your progress and start getting more rewards for ranking-up but they will be different. For example, you will get an Exotic Engram instead of an Ascendant Shard every time you reach Rank 16 once more after your first reset.
