What are dungeons in the Season of Discovery?
Dungeons in WoW SOD, just like in any other version of the game, are a first-class source of loot and experience. Also, it's a place where you learn to play your class better and prepare for raids, the pinnacle PvE content. Dungeons are certainly a more challenging activity than questing. But it pays: you will very rarely receive rare (blue) items as quest rewards, while in dungeons there's a chance to get one after each boss. The drawbacks of the dungeons are well-known:
- they have elite monsters that can't be handled by most classes 1 vs 1;
- they have lots of elite monsters which makes it impossible to beat a dungeon without a full party (5 players);
- they have bosses that can wipe your whole party and you need to have at least the slightest idea of the tactics;
- they require gathering a party which might be not the most fun activity if you don't have lots of friends online or a good guild;
- they require communicating with a party throughout the raid without having arguments and other unpleasant things
Most of those things are meant to take you out of your comfort zone. And yes, some people really, really hate it. But don't worry – if you're not a fan of all those aforementioned things, we got you covered with our team of professionals. You don't have to gather a party, communicate with them, and so on – they know the drill, they've been through millions of dungeons already, and they won't have any problems with any WoW SOD dungeon. All you have to do is follow their lead and do some damage during boss fights. The rest is done by our guys.
What dungeons are there in World or Warcraft SOD?
Not all dungeons are available in Season of Discovery right away. Since the maximum level ceiling is temporary and rises whenever a new phase arrives, you should expect the table below to not be final and change after the next major SOD update. Take a look at what's currently open:
DUNGEON | REQUIRED LEVELS | LOCATION | ADDED IN |
Deadmines | 18-23 | Westfall (Eastern Kingdoms) | Phase 1 (Nov 23) |
Ragefire Chasm | 13-18 | Orgrimmar, Durotar (Kalimdor) | Phase 1 (Nov 23) |
Shadowfang Keep | 22-30 | Silverpine Forest (Eastern Kingdoms) | Phase 1 (Nov 23) |
Stockade | 22-30 | Stormwind, Elwynn Forest (Eastern Kingdoms) | Phase 1 (Nov 23) |
Wailing Caverns | 17-25 | Barrens (Kalimdor) | Phase 1 (Nov 23) |
Some Classic dungeons that you might be used to, are missing on this list. The reason for that is that some of them have been turned into raids. For example, that's why Blackfathom Deeps and Gnomeregan and nowhere to be found here.
Some dungeons are notoriously badly located. Say, getting to Ragefire Chasm for an Alliance character is mission impossible, since it's situated right in the heart of the Orcish capital of Orgrimmar. The same is true about the Stockade but for the Horde players: how are they supposed to get to a low-level dungeon that's placed in the main capital city of their enemy faction? However, you shouldn't worry much about that. Most of the time the dungeons that you can easily access are the ones that will supply you with all the great loot and tons of experience. And our pro team will help you speed up that process.
SOD Phase 1 dungeons
The initial lineup of Season of Discovery included 5 dungeons. The reason for such a limited amount was the temporary level cap: characters couldn't progress past 25 lvl. Hence, only the dungeons that players within that level span could run were open for adventurers.
Deadmines in SOD
- Recommended levels: 18 to 23
- Location: Westfall (Eastern Kingdoms)
Deadmines is a dungeon that every Alliance player knows – and most of them by heart. This is the first encounter with elite mobs in such an overwhelming quantity. This is where many of us have had our first full-scale interaction with other players. And in Season of Discovery this good old dungeon remains just that: the place where Alliance players put their character to test for the first times. How will runes change your experience? This is what you should find out! And it will certainly be easier to do that in a company of our pros.
Ragefire Chasm in SOD
- Recommended levels: 13 to 18
- Location: Orgrimmar, Durotar (Kalimdor)
If Deadmines is where the Alliance players grow up, Ragefire Chasm is the same thing for those of the Horde. Its location is more convenient though: you don't have to travel anywhere from the safe haven of the Hordish capital. Orgrimmar welcomes everyone to test their skill. Do that with our carries to eliminate any kind of pressure that PUGs could put on you! You're there to see how your class has changed in the Season of Discovery after all, not just to rush another dungeon like many players would want it in the retail version of the game.
Shadowfang Keep in SOD
- Recommended levels: 22 to 30
- Location: Silverpine Forest (Eastern Kingdoms)
Shadowfang Keep must be the first real deal dungeon for players with Undead characters. Located in the Silverpine forest, not too far away from the Undercity, this mysterious fortress is full of worgens and other cursed creatures. If it's your first time in the Classic SFK, you might find its layout rather confusing. So it will be wise to bring along a professional team with you that will lead the way and whose coordinated playstyle will leave no living foes around within a very short period of time.
Stockade in SOD
- Recommended levels: 22 to 30
- Location: Stormwind, Elwynn Forest (Eastern Kingdoms)
Stockade is also known as the Stockade of Stormwind which should give you a hint of the location of this dungeon. That's right, it's right inside the Human capital, similarly to how Ragefire Chasm has been placed inside Orgirmmar. That makes entering it a walk in the park since they don't have to navigate a complex labyrinth looking for the entrance portal. The dungeon itself is also not very difficult but it has lots of lovely blue items so you shouldn't disregard it. Our pros can help you do as many runs to it as you need fast.
Wailing Caverns in SOD
- Recommended levels: 17 to 25
- Location: Barrens (Kalimdor)
This dungeon used to be a nightmare for so many. If you haven't been to its Classic version yet (the pre-Cataclysm one, that is), you're in for an unusual adventure, let's put it this way. The Caverns (commonly called WC with all the implications you might think of) are notorious for having an incomprehensible layout of its numerous cave passages and non-linear boss placement. It was the first truly dungeon experience for most Horde players and not all of them were happy with it. But it also was a rite of passage for new players, so finishing it proved your worth in a way. With our carries you won't have to prove anything to anyone – you'll just complete the Wailing Caverns dungeon as fast as possible. Our team will take the lead and you'll only have to follow them.
