As the auction ends, we go to the mailbox to claim our reward and notify you about that. Everyone is happy and you now have the guitar that can rock for real!

Q: What was the original way to get the Arcanite Ripper?

A: Simply put, it dropped from the original Karazhan (raid) during the pre-expansion event before the Wrath of the Lich King release. So back in the Burning Crusade days if you had a high-level and well-geared character (not too well-geared though, as Karazhan was a pretty easy raid), you could entertain yourself with trying to get this axe while waiting for WotLK to go live. The boss you could loot it from was Tenris Mirkblood, one of the first bosses there. It wasn't hard to beat the boss but winning the roll for the axe wasn't as easy. So you had time during the pre-patch and then 2 weeks (that's 2 tries) after the release – that made getting the axe with a death knight virtually impossible as you'd hardly level it up fast enough and you'd hardly find a raid team willing to go to Karazhan which was quite outdated by that moment. The Arcanite Ripper was a real gem and having it for so little in the game was a crime. Thankfully, Blizzard realized that and made it one of the highlight features of their brand new black market auction house in Mists of Pandaria. And it remains available there till this day.

Q: What's the starting price of an Arcanite Ripper lot?

A: Every Arcanite Ripper lot's starring price is 70'000 gold. Naturally, you can't go below that so expect to spend at least that. In reality, however, it is never sold for the starting price, so you should prepare to pay much more than that.

Q: Can every character use Arcanite Ripper?

A: Unfortunately, not. It can only be used by warriors, paladins, and death knights – all of which can wield two-handed axes. No other class can. However, there's a peculiar exception: if you get this axe with a warlock, you can actually equip this axe for your deathguard if you have the proper glyph allowing that.

Q: Which is right: Arcanite Ripper or Arcanite Reaper?

A: This item is called Arcanite Ripper. So that's the only name you should use when you refer to the guitar-axe obtainable from the Black Market. But Arcanite Reaper is also a thing. There's another 2-handed axe that looks identically – it used to be one of the best weapons a DPS warrior could use. It wasn't easy to get it as you could only craft it. If you know what crafting looked like in Classic, you can imagine the pain of doing that, especially when there's a high-end weapon involved. So the Ripper was an obvious reference to that old Reaper – an homage, if you will. Blizzard devs seem to love this item a lot as they made a third instance is it in the game as a herloom weapon – Bloodied Arcanite Reaper. So you can collect them all, if you're truly an Arcanite Ripper/Reaper fan!
