How to get to Varlamore in OSRS? – The fastest travel methods explained

If you haven't logged into Old School RuneScape for a while, you might be wondering what this Varlamore is that everyone's talking about. People go there in droves, hunt in the savannah, fight in the arena, and do all sorts of other awesome things. You don't want to miss out, do you? If so, you need to figure out how to get to Varlamore in OSRS.

In this handy little guide we'll tell you all you need to know about how Varlamore is connected to the rest of the world: what this place is, how you get there for the first time, and what other options you'll have after that. So let's start with some info about your destination.

🤔 What's Varlamore?

The glorious Shining Kingdom of Varlamore is a vast landmass consisting of multiple regions full of adventures. It became available to players back in March 2024. Over about a year's time we gradually got access to all of its parts, and as of October 2025 there's hardly a single nook or cranny that can't be explored there.

The place is full of content for players of all levels, from beginners to fully maxed veterans who've been around since 2007. Even if you're just starting out with OSRS, we encourage you to go straight to Varlamore because that's where everyone is right now.

Don't get us wrong – the game world is fantastic, vibrant, and full of things to do. But being the latest hot thing, Varlamore has attracted the majority of the game's population. Hence it's where you can find teammates, friends, trade partners, and whatnot – it's a social MMO after all!

So you've prepared for the journey... But how do you get to that new land of wonder? Don't worry – even experienced players sometimes get puzzled by this question. Let's learn more about getting to Varlamore in OSRS together!

🧭 Ways to Get to Varlamore

Many roads lead to Varlamore – some by sea, some by air, some through other dimensions. Once you've unlocked at least a couple of them, things become much easier – but before you get there for the first time, the adventure might seem a bit daunting.

Don't fret! We'll go over all the currently available ways to reach the kingdom, starting from the only one you can use to visit it for the first time.

🐣 Going There for the First Time

How to visit Varlamore in OSRS for the first time? For that, you're required to complete the quest Children of the Sun. To start it, head to Varrock, one of the most popular hubs in Old School RuneScape. In the very heart of the city, its central square, find two NPCs: Noah and Alina – and talk to either to get the quest.

It won't take you long to finish it. The quest is pretty short and exciting: you need to investigate a plot to assassinate some noble guests from Varlamore. As you can guess, successfully preventing the attack gets you a special invitation to visit the kingdom.

So how do you accept that invitation? Exit the city from its east gate and look for a guy wearing tribal style clothing and who keeps large birds nearby. That's Regulus Cento, a keeper of quetzales – that's the name of the exotic creatures he tends. And of course, that's how you'll travel to Varlamore – on the back of a mighty bird.

⛵️ Transportation systems

Okay, so you've made your first visit – but how do you get to Varlamore in OSRS after that? As you travel around the kingdom, you'll discover more and more ways to reach different destinations across it. It's connected with the game's world through two larger transportation systems: Quetzal Transportation System and Charter ships.

  • Quetzal network – bird keepers all over Varlamore offer flights to multiple destinations. You can also reach the kingdom by air through Regulus Cento near Varrock.
  • Charter ships – merchant ships travel along set routes, going back and forth. You can find them in most major seaside towns. There are three seaside destinations in Varlamore: Civitas illa Fortis (the capital), the Sunset Coast, and Aldarin.

🧚‍♀️ Fairy Rings

Fairy rings are fairly easy to use: come to a ring, enter the three-character code for your destination, and that's it – you're there in seconds. This method is faster than quetzals and ships, but to use it effectively you need to know the closest ring's location and your destination's code – thankfully, it's easy to look them up whenever you need. So we'd say that this is the fastest way to Varlamore in OSRS.

Varlamore has three fairy rings:

  1. Aldarin (c - k - q) – not exactly in Varlamore but on a nearby island. You'll most often visit it for the Mastering Moxlogy minigame.
  2. Auburn Valley (a - i - s) – close to the Vale Totems minigame.
  3. Avium Savannah (a - j - p) – located not far from the Hunter Guild.
All of them require you to first travel to the kingdom with the help of Regulus Cento.. They can be very useful in different situations, depending on what activities you're after.

⚡️ Teleports

There are several more teleport options to get to Varlamore – ones that don't require fairy rings or any codes. Here they are:

  1. The Civitas illa Fortis Teleport spell – it's a spell that any player can learn (standard spellbook) as long as they have the Magic skill above 54 and the Twilight's Promise quest completed (the second Varlamore quest in the Twilight Emisaries series). This teleport takes you straight to the Sunrise Palace from wherever you cast it.
  2. Ring of Dueling – upon reaching 12,000 Glory points, you can access a teleport to the Fortis Colosseum, the massive arena in Varlamore's capital.
  3. Pendant of Ates – it's a rare amulet you can get as an untradeable drop from either of these bosses: Amoxliatl and Frost Naguas. It must be charged with Frozen tears: 1 charge = 1 teleportation. There are six locations it can take you to and you must visit them before being able to reach them with the Pendant: The Darkfrost, Twilight Temple, Ralos' Rise, North Aldarin, Kastori, and Nemus Retreat.
The Pendant is a pretty interesting item, so we suggest you watch this little overview by NoBS OSRS to learn more about it:

Compared to fairy rings, these methods have tougher requirements. But they shouldn't be your top priority only because they get you somewhere faster – it makes more sense to treat these teleports simply as handy bonuses.

🦊 Hunter Guild Perks

The Hunter Guild is a group of elite hunters with a headquarters in the Avium Savannah. If you enjoy Hunter activities, you'll feel at home there – and find a faster way to get back home, too. There are many different perks and items you can earn as you improve your reputation with the guild. Two of them can help you reach the Savannah from anywhere in the world:

  1. Quetzal whistle – It's a rechargeable teleport item that takes you directly to the Guild's entrance. There are three types of whistles: basic (up to 5 charges), enhanced (20), and perfected (50). To recharge your whistle, bring raw meat to Soar Leader Pitri, one of the Guild's members.
  2. Cape teleport – talk to Guildmaster Apatura inside the Guild to add a teleport on your Hunter cape or Max cape. It'll also take you to the Guild's entrance and there's no limit on how many times you can teleport per day.
Of these two options, the whistle is easier to obtain by far. The capes are ridiculously difficult to get since they require maxing out the Hunter skill (Hunter cape) or all of them (Max cape). Having a teleport to the Hunter Guild is merely a nice little bonus on top of all the power-ups they provide.

It would be an overstatement to say that all the roads lead to Varlamore, but as you can now see, such roads are actually quite numerous. With a little patience and determination you can unlock them all – traversing the world becomes much easier when you have a full arsenal of teleports.
